How About No District Tournament Only Regional

Featured Replies

While it's easy to complain about the losers advancing, I think this is one thing that makes Kentucky High School basketball so great. Didn't Cov Cath lose their district last year and go on to win state? I know Simon Kenton lost the district last year and went to the regional finals game. It's all about finding the best team and I believe Kentucky does that better than anyone. Also I don't know about the rest of you all, but I would love to see rematches between Simon and Grant, Lincoln and Boyle, etc. Kentucky High School basketball is one of the greatest things about this state, no need to change.

Ky basketball isn't broken, I have no idea why people keep wanting to "Fix" it.

No. It's stupid. We afraid of change cause it can't be better. Ya'll still have outdoor plumbing???

Fixing The Quote

How is it stupid? Kentucky literally does high school basketball better than anyone else. Does Kentucky have the greatest basketball talent in the country? No. But their is more passion in this state for high school basketball than the other 49 combined. Why mess with a great thing?

Who says it is better and why risk ruining something that doesn't need fixing? Were you bored this week watching basketball or just upset that your team never makes the district finals to advance to region and looking for a new way in?

Neither bored or upset. I never have believed a loser should advance in getting to the state tournament. The "we always have done it that way" is a very archaic mentality to which I don subscribe and I have little tolerance for those that do

Yeah that new fangled contraption the automobile will never make it. Love my good old horse and buggy

Have also heard instance of shenanigans concerning losing district final on purpose to avoid another team in regionals. Yep good ole Ky.

Wrong analogy. What you are suggesting would be like downgrading from a Ferrari to a bicycle.

The regional tournament matchup are determined by a draw. Who would rather lose and play a winner or win and play a loser. If this happened then the coach should be fired for ignorance.

Those acting like it's an awful idea are making for great entertainment.

Logistically it just doesn't work outside of 3-5 regions.

Where was this uproar when the championship game got moved to Sunday, which was supposed to happen once?

Really do I need to spell it out? Team A prohibitive favorite happens to lose in dist. finals. Team B, pretty decent team, hears of Team A's loss. To avoid them they also lose. Where there's a possibility comes a probability... Again, hows that outhouse workin out fer ya this weekend???

That was the best change the Sweet 16 has made in a long time. Now if we could get the Mr. Basketball voting changed back to after the Sweet 16 we'll be rolling!!!

You can't control the draw though. That's why any coach that would lose purposely to avoid a team is playing with fire and should be fired. Not to mention that in our region all four district championships are played on the same night at the same time. Not coach is checking scores during the game then that might be a problem also.
