So then college, MLB & the NFL have it all wrong, huh? There shouldn't be a Heisman winner or MLB or NFL Player of Year? They are position sports, as you say....everyone's position should get ranked, right? That's how the little ol' 9th region should be cause you can't compare apples to oranges, right?

 

I don't believe LB ever compared any of the girls directly to each other. I would assume that he ranked them based on what HE FELT they brought OVERALL to their respective teams. Ever watched pre-game shows Sunday afternoon or MLB network? Their analysts will each give you their OPINIONS and each one will have a different top 5/10/100....does that make any of them more right than someone else's? Nope because they are only one persons OPINION.

 

For having no dog in this fight, you sure did get your feathers ruffled pretty easy. Simmer down and take the list LB started and start watching some of these girls. You may learn a little bit about them & my guess is while watching them, you'll get the opportunity to see some girls that may impress you that weren't listed. When you have some 9th region softball knowledge come back & challenge LB with your own Top 10 or better yet..Top 20 list.

Thank you, your the first who actually gave an argument and backed it up with information that makes sence. Your right, D1 is not the end all to end all, but glad you pointed that out. Many kids choose to go to certain colleges for many reasons, it's an honor and a great challenge for them to play at any level considering the work load they face when they get there. As I've clearly said, give me a list of who to look for by position, not a bias by LB on who he thinks is the best, because your comparing apples to oranges. And yes, I did throw it our there at first about #3 , and I made my point. LB operates on gorilla war fair, throws things out there, waiting for those to bite and attack, sit back and says nothing. Guess I need to learn to ignore him, like most, read it, say nothing, and move along. Thank you, have a great year.

 

The reason I've said nothing until this point is because your comments don't deserve a reply the way you are taking this whole thread and turning it into a "fiasco".

 

I've had the pleasure of watching Shelby for the last 4 years and she is an outstanding softball player, and an even better young lady. I love everything about her game, her hustle, desire, and most importantly, her leadership. She is one of those players every coach dreams of having on their team. I've also had the pleasure of watching and coaching every HS game that Kristen Schreiber has played since the 8th grade. Regardless of what travel team they played for, or college they will be playing for in the future, doesn't mean a "hill of beans" to me. In MY OPINION they are both equally talented players and since Kristen is on my team, thus the spot I put her in on the list.

 

My intention wasn't to "ruffle" any feathers or "urinate" off any parents because their daughter wasn't high enough on MY list or not even on it. We have plenty of very talented young ladies in the 9th Region/NKY to be proud of and can't wait for the season to start. Where is the global warming when you need it.

Lawnboy, thanks for posting the top ten,in your opinion, Lawnboy keeps the softball thread going in my opinion. He is very fair to each and every team and player and probably knows more about most teams than anyone. I personally would like to thank you for what you do for the forgotten sport in northern Ky, SOFTBALL. Thank you.

Whatever the reasons are for the college the athlete chooses, shouldn't matter to us as fans, coaches, or parents. Be thankful that she has gotten this far in life and will be going to a college. With that said, I think that until teams from Northern Kentucky start dominating and bringing home state titles, all this arguing falls on deaf ears. Any die hard sports fan will want a title versus saying that their homeboy(girl) so and so has stats that are off the charts. Individual stats are normally useless to the athlete that is concerned with how their team is doing. Athletes want championships and all the other hoopla that comes with it such as mvp, or any other individual award is icing on the cake. Remember, even a great athlete that has never experienced a championship will envy the waterboy (Adam Sandler of course) on a championship team. Don't get me wrong, at the end of the day, even if your daughter doesn't accomplish a lot individually or team wise, it's still your little girl....so love her dearly. It sure is hard for kids nowadays to raise parents and sometimes coaches. Give them some slack?? Individuals that succeed in softball are about the team and they will always have a great supporting cast! We, including me, need to take a step back and really think about how this effects softball. If you were new to the sport and saw all this bickering would you want to be apart of it, much less your daughter? To become great, all parents should be asking what they can do to help, coaches should be getting together, even rivalries to educate. I've said it before, knowledge is power and if Northern Kentucky high school softball wants to dominate, your all gonna need help from one another. I'm gonna need help now.ok I'm done?

Sidenote: Jayhawk, earlier in this thread you mentioned something about someone affecting your intelligence. Now after the train wreck this thread has turned into, let us get back to the actual point of this whole thing. The KIDS!!

 

1. Highlands Plenty of talent but now everyone guns for them. How will they handle it.

2. Notre Dame Region finals two years in a row. If the new starters step up, they will be there again.

3. Conner Lost some key players. Doesn't matter. They are always in the discussion when it counts.

4. NCC Maybe the oldest team in the region this year with plenty of talent. Is this the year they get over the hump?

5. Dixie Always have athletes. Can they find a way to string together some nice wins?

6. St. Henry Have plenty of skill returning. Will they stay healthy?

7. Brossart A scrappy bunch every year. Need to show some consitancy.

8. Boone Can't be a homer. We'll let you all talk about us if you feel the need to. We will just show up and play.

9. Ryle Shouldn't be this low to be honest. We all know they will be higher than this before the end.

10. Walton Can they replace their two big bats and pitcher. They have talent.

For once, and I can't believe I am posting this, I agree with Lawn Boy regarding the Top 3. I'm not familiar with any other players.

I'm sorry, the Top 3 players. I think NCC is definety in the Top 2. They're deep and have great leadership and experience.
