It was Boone Senior Night and I know that was a motivation to get this game in.

 

Sure, always a reason the school justifies a behavior they would stand in judgment of a student for.

 

Maybe school districts like Boone County should make individual decisions on school closings. You could have Florence City Schools and Boone-Elite County Schools.

 

Reminds me of something I saw on Facebook this morning:

Which is why I suggested the Florence City Schools/Rich-Entitled Boone County School distinction.

Just a thought:

 

Games are scheduled on Saturdays while school is not. Whereas no decisions ever need to be made on Saturdays regarding weather and school, would we still be analyzing a school's decision so carefully on a Saturday regarding whether or not they decided to have their game played during inclement weather considering it can't be compared on that given day to decisions made about whether or not to call off school?

^ I am just pointing out the hypocrisy.

 

At the end of the day, who cares, let the kids play ball and they can talk about senior night when they are logging make up school days in June.

While the conditions may be ok for high school aged kids to safely attend class, it may not be the same for the youngest kids at the elementary levels. School systems can not pick and choose which schools to close.

 

Saw quite a few of the private high schools were in session yesterday. Makes a difference when you are not crossing such a wide age range.

Are they playing at Dixie Tonight?

I fully support Boone County's decision to allow the games to be played. Senior night is a great memory for any athlete. Boone vs Dixie is being played tonight at Dixie because it is their senior night. If there weren't games going on this week; these teenagers would be out in the cold somewhere else. Hope all of the teams in Ky enjoy the rest of the season!! Good luck to all ?

Remember that when a county has to call of the schools they have to base it on the worst road conditions in the entire county. So the streets of Florence may be completely cleared of snow but the Bellevue Bottoms or the hairpin turn in Petersburg may be slick as snot so all of the schools are out.
