Transfer talk started pretty late, not leaving too many choices. The smart play was to go back, play out the year, and look for a new school post season for next year. Leaving Vermont this close to start of the season wasn't fair to them or to Brandon.

I know for a fact that another D1 program's admissions department got started on the potential Brandon Hatton transfer 2 weeks before this became public. Not sure what has come of it to this point, but I know for sure they started the process earlier.

Staying another year in a situation that isn't working for you is not smart if you're looking to stay D1. It costs you a year of eligibility. As it stands, if he gets out this year, this is the year he sits out and he's eligible to play next year. I don't see any advantage in staying and playing in a role or situation that's not right for you.

Absolutely. But if he wants to stay D1, better to transfer sooner than later.

Not questioning you or your sources but definitely interested to hear who this program is because that was news to my source that I spoke to today who has been in contact with Brandon and his family regularly over the past month. I was told for a fact that it wasn't NKU.

 

My understanding is that Kentucky Wesleyan, Bellarmine, and Charleston (WV) have all been in contact and are trying to get Brandon enrolled in December. Also a program in FL but can't remember the name. All have the resources to get it done but the question is does he want to play D2 for half a season then start the recruiting process all over?

 

EKU might not be a bad landing spot but I have no clue if there has been any contact between the school and Brandon's family.

 

The transfer of three players out of Vermont had more to do with another player than the actual program or coaching staff...

Remember that a school may be doing homework to see IF they want to get involved i.e. the family or your contact wouldn't know of their interest yet. May not get an answer they like which means he would never know of their interest.

I've been told Brandon has a list of places he'd like to go. I only know the name of one school and that is the one at the top of the list. NKU.

If true, that would be great. Never would have guessed he'd come back home after always wanting to get away from the area.
