I hope Obama's proposal for free community college gets support. IMO, it has the potential to reduce welfare roles.

The problem is it is not free. Someone has to pay for it...

Being subject to KY HB-1 for a prescription had led me to be able to directly relate to this.

The action is an unconstitutional search.

It is hindrance to freedom through it unwarrented restriction of a legal purchase.

And it has a basis in presumption of guilt - also unconstitutional.

If politicians want to blanket drug test a group it should on themselves. Once a year - line in the capital hallway - with cup in hand.

What would you prefer? $100 on the front end, or $1million on the back end?

We pay now, they pay later. Paying for college for them is an investment.

Can we monitor their extramarital activity as well?

It was supposed to be by taxing long college savings plans!

Laudable in goals but short on funding - if that sounds familiar.

Also when 4 year graduates can not find work I am not sure how having a 2 year degree is going to help.

It will help a lot more for the lower-wage entry level jobs that require at least a 2 year degree these days (or at least it's preferred). It will also help those fields in technology and manufacturing that require technology. It's not designed to help professional degrees, but to build into the technology and manufacturing and trades like plumbing, electrical work, etc.

Similar results happened in Florida. Much as it's a nice little talking point, the truth is, the vast majority of people receiving benefits are not drug abusers and deadbeats. But, the beat will go on, and the character attacks on millions of people will persist.

I have to be randomly drug tested at my job. Most jobs I know, people have to be randomly tested. What is the problem with welfare recipients being tested? They are receiving a compensation.

I'm not a drug abuser or deadbeat. Is my character being attacked because my employer requires me to be randomly tested? We know the answer is a resounding NO!

No law requires that every person working gets drug tested. Your employer decides. The issue is that the government is deciding who warrants drug testing and who doesn't.

Always amazing to me that people want the government out of their personal lives, but have no issue at all with the government being in people's business who they feel are "taking their money". It's not our money. We pay to enjoy the freedoms and safety nets. There but for the Grace of God go I, I say.

The attitude that every university needs to be a liberal arts type university will need to change overall if this is the case.

I am a fan of BCTC and its cost structure.

Lawnboys 4 ways to avoid the Welfare rolls.

1. Graduate high school.

2. Obtain "gainful" employment.

3. Don't have children while you are in your teens, (better yet, wait till your married).

4. Don't run afoul of the law.

Care to support your premis?

It's our money and the idea that it is not is a basic cause of a lot of our problems.
