How and why does Highland and Holy Cross make it into every post about HOLMES???

Highlands had kids out too. Their starting center played 1 minute and their starting 3 only played a half. And they won in the last 48 seconds of the game. Having Tubbs back would definitely help Holmes, but don't forget, getting 1 and a half starters back for HHS would also have helped them. In fact, I would argue having our big girl out affected that game more than Holmes having their top scorer out. Holmes, outside of about 5 key three pointers, made a living on the inside in that game and finishing a the rim and rebounding. A lot of that goes away with an athletic and long 6'2" center in the game. Not saying different outcome, just saying Tubbs was out does not mean any next meeting would result in Holmes with a much larger win just because Tubbs didn't play.

Hopefully the two meet up again in the region tournament with everyone healthy so we will know for sure and there are no more excuses. :thumb:

It's not even about the score and some of you have admitted that much. No coach in their right mind would ever send a message to their players that any opponent wasn't worthy of their best effort and if so I damn sure wouldn't want my child playing for them!

Can I ask what seems to be an obvious question? Why are these 2 teams playing in the first place? I am not from that area.....so there may be a reason?

It's no secret that this is Coach Perkins' M.O. As long as they have the talent to pound opponents, that's what he'll try to do. I've heard from several Lady Bulldog fans, and they aren't real proud of what he's done to several opponents this season. Not saying it's right or wrong, just think there has to be some level of sportsmanship in a coach's thought process.

May be wrong, but there is a Conference as well that really is outdated and no one really pays attention to any longer. But I does drive some of the scheduling if the two teams happen to be in the same division of the Conference. I think these two may be.

This Holmes team reminds me of an AAU style team. Hard D all the way and push the ball on offense. No five pass rules for this bunch. I enjoy the style of play but it does create conflict in a mismatch situation. Wide margin victories are not uncommon in AAU.

I understand where you are going to a point...However, I'll ask the same question as before...then why ever take them out...if that's what he really believes. Wouldn't that be the case for the entire game then?

Agreed! They are just like an AAU team. But we have also seen them struggle at times because they don't have an effective half court offense. Yes, they were able to win some of those games, but if I had those tools, this would have been an absolute perfect game to work on a weakness that could potentially be their demise. Maybe not in districts and maybe not even in the region. Who knows! But I bet that weakness gets exposed somewhere along the line. What a great opportunity to force yourself to slow down and play a half court without it really hurting you.

It got exposed against HC. HC shut down the inside and it was a problem for 3 quarters. Then like magic the gates opened with a couple of 3's and the inside reopened to create a very close game.
