I'm not going to get on Holmes at all...I said my peace earlier in the year. It is what it is. But saying that the varsity only played 5 of the 8 minutes in the third qtr isn't really a good justification. That means the varsity played almost 3 full qtrs in a 57 point blowout where only 7 points were scored in the 4th qtr. That means that around 90 of the points were scored by the varsity.

 

Again, I'm past it, but that's not a great fact that I would use to help justify it to others.

 

So when do u think he should of put JV in the Varsity game? After half time? In the first quarter after they scored the first 30 points? Correct me if i'm wrong but this was a VARSITY GAME i was watching or was i watching 2 JV games? Just asking

This is the last season some of these kids will play competitive sports EVER. So they should miss out on the opportunity of playing a lot of minutes because they are on a good team?

Again, I could care less. No one posted anything about it until you did. I think folks are used to it by now. To each their own. I'm just saying that playing basically 3 qtrs of the game in an almost 60 point victory is not really a justification for blowing someone out. Don't care about the blowout one bit. I expected it! Just saying it comes across a little defensive throwing our facts before anyone even said anything and the facts saying that the majority of the game was played by the varsity really doesn't help. I probably just wouldn't have said anything! Now people are asking questions?

 

What was the score at halftime? When did the running clock happen? All legit questions. I didn't ask them?

 

And to anwer your question, I don't care what the name of the game was. If you have JV kids sitting on your varsity bench, they have worked just as hard as the other kids you are telling me worked hard and they sit there the entire game for the majority of the games. What a great way to reward those hard worker with varsity minutes! So yes, it's a varsity game. But I always thought the players sitting on the end of the bench for every game were a part of that varsity team. And on the other hand, are you saying the main varsity players are neglected playing time? They get plenty of minutes. In fact, it's probably a great time in the season to provide some rest for those kids that have been going that hard for this long. It should be a luxury to them to be able to sit. No, they won't want to, but don't adults usually know what's better for kids than the kids?

 

Again, we have all come accustomed to seeing these scores. No one is surprised anymore. And I could really care less what the score was. Think I would have just left it alone. If you create smoke, there is usually fire.

It was a VARSITY game right? So why shouldn't VARSITY players get majority of the minutes in This game? Girls that work hard all week I'm practice shouldn't be rewarded with playing time in there own game? These girls are on the team because they want to PLAY not sit and be spectators

If the starting five were in for Glasgow late in the game (I have no idea if they were or not), you would probably be scratching your head wondering why they have not subbed out. Its all good on the winning side, but need to remember when not on the winning side.

I don't care about the score. I commented on the pre-justification and the fact that facts stated in that pre-justification don't really support what you were trying to justify...before anyone even said anything.

 

I don't think anyone is even talking about this game if that's not brought up. No one even participated in the prediction thread because they knew this was going to happen.

 

And we can comment on anything. Its what BGP is for...to discuss. If your kids read it, then that's up to you and them. I have nothing against the kids or anyone in the Holmes program. It's just a discussion. I'm elated and excited for the districts and region because of how the season turned out. It will most likely be the best regional tournament ever in girls bball in NKY. Win or lose, I just can't wait for it to start!

I agree with RCC9 accept for not caring what the score was, I care and you don't do that to a local team, if you want to do that to a team from another state, not that I think that is right as well so be it but not to a local school. Also to say is this a varsity game give me a break, there is not doubt ealry on in this game that Holmes coach knew he had this game in hand, winning by 20 or 30 is a blow why couldn't he settel for that. That shows no respect for the other coach, team and LLoyd HS, what ashame and I don't blame the players the the coach is in control and could have very easily controled that sitituation. I think the Holmes players play very well and she very good sportsmanship and I hope this isn't a reflection on the players this all about the coach. Sorry but I call it like I see but that doesn't mean I am right, I do think I am saying what others are thinking and want to see.

I know why she plays. I love her game. I'm saying...using your argument about playing time for the kids that will never get to compete again, then they should never come out of the game then. My point...there are plenty of reason to take a senior contributor out of a game. Don't play the "its the last season for some of these kids" card or that can be applied several different ways!
