Holmes 105 Lloyd 48

I know why she plays. I love her game. I'm saying...using your argument about playing time for the kids that will never get to compete again, then they should never come out of the game then. My point...there are plenty of reason to take a senior contributor out of a game. Don't play the "its the last season for some of these kids" card or that can be applied several different ways![/quote

So if Holmes only dressed the 7 players that play straight varsity would the score be acceptable then?

Again, I could care less. No one posted anything about it until you did. I think folks are used to it by now. To each their own. I'm just saying that playing basically 3 qtrs of the game in an almost 60 point victory is not really a justification for blowing someone out. Don't care about the blowout one bit. I expected it! Just saying it comes across a little defensive throwing our facts before anyone even said anything and the facts saying that the majority of the game was played by the varsity really doesn't help. I probably just wouldn't have said anything! Now people are asking questions?

What was the score at halftime? When did the running clock happen? All legit questions. I didn't ask them?

And to anwer your question, I don't care what the name of the game was. If you have JV kids sitting on your varsity bench, they have worked just as hard as the other kids you are telling me worked hard and they sit there the entire game for the majority of the games. What a great way to reward those hard worker with varsity minutes! So yes, it's a varsity game. But I always thought the players sitting on the end of the bench for every game were a part of that varsity team. And on the other hand, are you saying the main varsity players are neglected playing time? They get plenty of minutes. In fact, it's probably a great time in the season to provide some rest for those kids that have been going that hard for this long. It should be a luxury to them to be able to sit. No, they won't want to, but don't adults usually know what's better for kids than the kids?

Again, we have all come accustomed to seeing these scores. No one is surprised anymore. And I could really care less what the score was. Think I would have just left it alone. If you create smoke, there is usually fire.

LLOYD....18-15-11- 4—48

71-33 at the break, 38pt. halftime lead. I would say the running clock started at the start of the 2nd half.

Not sure where you're going with that. But it would also depend on what they did with those 7 players. But the facts are, they didn't only dress 7 players and had plenty of options. If a coach does not have options, then it's a different discussion. BUT in your hypothetical, I would still be curious if he pressed and pressured with those 7 while the game was clearly in control or did he pull back and not pressure and maybe work on a half court offense that has been their Achilles heal. Not just one option, but running all the way through plays to identify multiple options. So with 7 players, there are still many "choices" a coach can make.

Holmes should be embarrassed. No, not for running up the score on Lloyd, but for their high pressure defense giving up 48 points to the Juggernauts. That is right at Lloyds season average. I expected more from Holmes. They better pick up the "D" if they are going to compete with Highlands and Holy Cross in the post season.

They already beat Highlands without their leading scorer (Tubbs) playing so your comment doesn't hold much credibility.

Some of you are way too sensitive when it comes to these girls and scores. I'd say the same thing on the boys side as well if there was a blowout.

Holmes has 8 girls who average 5 or more ppg and see regular minutes...anyone ever think that some of these blowouts simply can't be avoided because of how deep they are?

You think some of the scores are bad now, wait til next year when all of these juniors are seniors and so on.

Funny how some of you want to bash a coach at the high school level for a score like this, yet nothing is said about Cal when UK blows out an inferior opponent.

Highlands had kids out too. Their starting center played 1 minute and their starting 3 only played a half. And they won in the last 48 seconds of the game. Having Tubbs back would definitely help Holmes, but don't forget, getting 1 and a half starters back for HHS would also have helped them. In fact, I would argue having our big girl out affected that game more than Holmes having their top scorer out. Holmes, outside of about 5 key three pointers, made a living on the inside in that game and finishing a the rim and rebounding. A lot of that goes away with an athletic and long 6'2" center in the game. Not saying different outcome, just saying Tubbs was out does not mean any next meeting would result in Holmes with a much larger win just because Tubbs didn't play.

Give me a break- your not really trying to compare the level of competition played between two college teams to two high school teams are you?

For one thing- colleges pick the kids that play on their team- high schools, not so much.

I've stated my philosophy a few times on this and I'll state it again since it applies here.

Holmes' staff knew they were going to win this with no effort. Let's be honest. Add in that the game doesn't impact the districts.

This is the PERFECT game to let the subs especially those that may be juniors or seniors START the game and play the majority of the game. What a thrill for them and their families to hear their name announced in the starting lineups.

Coach blew a great chance to reward kids. That's a shame.

71-38 at half? Starters should have sat the rest of the game. It's not like it's an early-season game and they're rusty. They could use some rest and relaxation.

Again, I have no problem with it. I made my point about the justification of it. The rest of my input has come from answering questions from the Holmes fans.

As for bolded. We still don't really know when the running clock came into play. But lets say it's a safe bet that it was at least in affect at the start of the 3rd qtr. I think by the numbers posted, we can agree to that. Then again, the justification of the varsity only played 5 of the 8 minutes in the 3rd (DURING A RUNNING CLOCK and BTW scored 27 points in the 3rd qtr with a running clock) is exactly what I was posting about. You have to try to score 27 in a qtr with a running clock in affect. It was evident when they took the top kids out. They scored 7 in the entire 4th.

Again, don't care. Just don't try to justify it when no one even said a word about it!

What are you talking about???

What are you talking about???

I assume you are talking about Walter's comment. Comparing to UK. I agree 100%.
