Belfry Completes 2015 Schedule with Newport Central Catholic

Is their schedule still complete? As of yesterday there were rumors beginning to circulate about Harlan County dropping them in week 2, any validity to those claims?
Nothing official, so as of right now, Belfry considers their schedule complete. Maybe wishful thinking because those rumors are coming from more than one source.

If harlan co is going to drop the game, then it would only be business like or have the courtesy to let them know.

Weak leadership IMO if they plan on doing it and dragging it out until its too late for Belfry to find another game.

Read where they want to drop JC and Belfry and pick up Middlesboro and Breathitt

Those two teams are terrible right now and dont seem to be looking to get better anytime soon

The new HC coach obviously sees a way out of having to play good teams and IMO should stick with the 2yr deals and pick those 2 teams up in the next cycle, but from what I understand he quit halfway through the season and the kids still wanted him back and now he I guess is going to teach the kids about dodging good teams and breaking contracts.

I might be his only friend in NKY, lol. And now that hes one of the new officers on the Wrestling board, we get to be best buds.
Jim is one of the nicest guys around and if you serve closely with him, you will like him.

That's quite the schedule Belfry has, hopefully they can find a replacement for Harlan County.

I'm curious how the NCC faithful feel about NCC agreeing to a game so far away though. I remember after the Ashland debacle this past season due to the flash flood and inability to get the game rescheduled, several of the NCC faithful claimed the game never should have been scheduled in the first place, due to the travel distance. I know this was the administration's decicion to schedule a game with Belfry, not the fans, but it is a bit ironic.

If Belfry floods our primary concern had better be how much of the state of KY is left above water.

Haha, I doubt it would be much.

Hatfield has been a majority of the off and def. He isn't near legendary...he is legendary. He will be replaced with many differnt pieces but the road is tougher with a bell or corbin semi and Boyle/ lex cath state.

Revisionist history.

I'm glad that the Breds get tested on the road at a place like Belfry. Great team, great atmosphere...it can only help the Breds prepare for De Sales in December if they can get there. NewCath returns a lot. They need to find a couple of receivers, but they have Smith and Lawrence back. I'm concerned about how they will block Belfry's DEnd. That kid was one of the stars of the State Championship weekend.

Belfry defensive front are all back. Belfry plays a 52 defense with a nose and 2 DT, but over time their DE have really transitioned into OLB's.

The noseguard #11 Sanger will be a SR. The kid you are talking about is #23 Horton and his counterpart at the other DT is #44 Bentley, both will be JRs. The two DE's (really OLB) will #40 Hall, a JR and #2 Dotson, a SR.

They lost both MLB's and it is possible one of the above could move there, but suffice to say at least 5 out of the front 7 will be experienced.

When you return the entire defensive front from a state championship team, you really don't have that many worries or concerns. You guys are sandbagging this team. It is a whole lot easier to find two ILBers when you have the experience up front than it is to return 2 experienced ILBers only to not have anything returning up front and guards can get to them without hesitation.

Why is everyone concerned about whether this is a good scheduling move for NewCath? As long as I can remember, NewCath has scheduled with the same championship mindset as Belfry: "Anyone. Any time. Any place." "Respect all. Fear none." You have to admire that, plus a travel game or two gives your players a taste of what playoff football feels like. It just so happens there are so many quality teams in NKY (including bigger teams willing to play down), NCC doesn't have to take a true road trip unless they choose to.

My big picture concern for Belfry is they were not an especially dominant offensive team last year and Hatfield was clearly the ball joint of the offense. Taylor was underrated for what he did as well. I have concerns that Belfry does not have a home run threat in the backfield and their most dynamic offensive player, Corbett, still has a long way to go to efficiently run the show.

I think Belfry will have a few hiccups on defense... but there is no denying that unit will be ridiculous if they stay healthy.
