February 4, 201511 yr Farmer Could Be Suspended; Browns May Lose Pick Over Textgate And yet crickets on here...
February 4, 201511 yr Well, then you did the right thing by starting a thread! Now we can talk about it.
February 4, 201511 yr Hopefully the NFL will allow the Browns to go back in time and lose the JohnnyFootball pick from last year...fair enough I think
February 4, 201511 yr Farmer Could Be Suspended; Browns May Lose Pick Over Textgate And yet crickets on here... 1) When did it break? 2) It's the Browns 3) Not as easy to follow the advantage they gained as with the Pats 4) It's not their eleventy fifth violation
February 4, 201511 yr And yet crickets on here... You've brought up the Browns and the Falcons: two teams no one cares about because they're terrible. That's why no one is talking about it. Any accusations against teams that are... you know... relevant?
February 4, 201511 yr You guys aren't being fair.No one here said they shouldn't be reprimanded, first I've heard of it. You think it might be a bigger deal for a team that has a history?
February 4, 201511 yr You guys aren't being fair. "Those guys did it too" is not a defense. There are all sorts of reasons why what the Patriots did and when the story broke that made it a bigger deal. If the way the media works and why the Pats story was huge and the others weren't is escaping some people, then I don't know how to explain it.
February 4, 201511 yr OK besides the stupid coach in "The Blind Side" what coach checks his phone during a game? Cleveland being Cleveland
February 4, 201511 yr Author You've brought up the Browns and the Falcons: two teams no one cares about because they're terrible. That's why no one is talking about it. Any accusations against teams that are... you know... relevant? Because they're current, and yeah the Falcons issue is the worst of all 3, and very relevant. Their owner or GM (forget which one) is one of the chairs on the league's Competition Committee.
February 4, 201511 yr You guys aren't being fair. What's fair have to do with it? People are way more interested in something that happens to top teams in the NFC Championship game than in some regular season game involving an irrelevant team. If there's a nude picture of Penelope Cruz I'm checking it out, if there's one of Hillary Clinton I'm passing. Some things are simply more interesting.
February 4, 201511 yr Author If there's a nude picture of Penelope Cruz I'm checking it out, if there's one of Hillary Clinton I'm passing. Some things are simply more interesting. Wait, there's a nude picture of Penelope Cruz?
February 4, 201511 yr They're irrelevant until they play the Bengals on a nationally televised prime time game. Just saying... If Farmer did this, and today is the first time this detail was released, he should be suspended for x number of games. There is also the possibility that Cleveland loses one or more draft picks and will pay a fine. If this is the case, Farmer should man up and apologize to the players, the owner, the fans, and his family and admit that what he did has hurt the team worse than Haden's 2-game suspension last season and Gordon's 2 game suspension last year (2013). He also may be the reason Kyle Shanahan wanted out of his contract. Apparently Farmer texted down to the field about the play calling and word was sent to the coaches. They didn't have their cell phones on. I wouldn't be surprised if Farmer was also behind starting Manziel before he was ready. I am sure Shanahan knew Manziel wasn't ready, every fan could see he wasn't ready. This would explain why Manziel was put in before he was ready if the GM and the owner of the team wanted Manziel to play. I liked Farmer through the draft last year. I wanted him to select Bridgewater, but thought he generally made good pick-ups in free agency and did pretty well in the draft. But the end of this season has shined a dimmer light on Farmer and this is not good. He doesn't need to be fired but this sure casts a bad light on the Browns (again). For me, the departure of Shanahan was painful because it signaled that things aren't yet straightened-out in the organization. All of these recent details magnify that.
