Was there a Rock & Roll that preceded Rock & Roll Part 2?

I always wondered about that too, but never enough to research it :lol2:

A little bit of a different take on a sequel...but Muddy Waters wrote "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man", to which Bo Diddly responded by writing, "I'm a Man", to which Muddy Waters responded back by writing, "Mannish Boy".

("Mannish Boy" is one of my all-time favorite songs...period.)

Similarly, Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote "Sweet Home Alabama" as a response to Neil Young's "Southern Man".

Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" hit #1 and was followed up with "Judy's Turn To Cry" that reached #5. Those were her first two hits.

And Neil wrote "Powderfinger" in response for Skynyrd to record. They never got the chance …

David Allan Coe - If that ain't country, parts 1 and 2.
