That is a lot of faith to put in a kid that has been playing 1A Ball the last few years. I guess if he does not do well,, the fan base will be questioning the "competency" of the receivers. I like how the Ryle faithful is totally dismissing the O'hara kid over there. He is bigger, mobile, and has been in the system a full year. I would be surprised if it is as easy you all are making it seem for the Morgan kid to get the starting nod. I know competition is a good thing, but the way I have seen all the posts from the Ryle faithful is that there is no competition, that the Morgan kid has been handed the keys to the kingdom

 

I don't think there has been too many Ryle people post about it. People that know our kids would never dismiss Aaron O'Hara about anything. The kid is a baller and a great kid. We are leaving the decisions to our coach. Both kids are very capable and will be huge parts of a very talented team including the receiving postion that we will have this year, so no excuses there. As far as the faith comment, doesn't the Fieger kid from Beechwood play division 1a? Most are handing him the key to being number one in NKy. Both O'Hara and Morgan are every bit as athletic and can play QB with him any day.

O'hara is a great athlete more mobile and a good QB. Morgan has two years experience and has produced very well on varsity. See post #8. There will be competition for the job, IMO, Morgan has the edge. Had he not had to move away he probably would have started as a Freshman here and there wouldn't be so much debate about it. I have faith that Engler will play the kid who gives us the best chance to win. Can't really go wrong either way. Just think game experience has to go to Morgan. Isn't it great to have two good QB's. Too bad they are in the same class. It would be really nice to let one develop another year. My worry is who is behind these two for the future? I haven't heard much on that.

 

Bison you are really a big O'hara fan and that's cool, or you really don't like Morgan. (And I mean athletically.) What's up with that? The kid can play....

Quite honestly, the last time I saw the Morgan kid play was during the Freshman Football title game a few years ago. The only time I saw the O'hara kid play this year was against Cooper. So I have no opinion one way or the other. My posts on here have been from the outside looking in and it appears to me that he is just being overlooked by the insertion of the Morgan kid into the equation. Having coached football and seeing a number of situations like this,, it is never good. All of this gets back to the kids and puts undue pressure on one and feelings of being disregarded on the other. It can tear apart the locker room if its not dealt with.

 

Having said that, I believe I would give the O'Hara kid the edge in this situation because he has seen and felt the rush from defenses on a 6A level. He knows the system and will have a year under his belt,, so he should be more comfortable. I take nothing away from Morgan,, but I believe he will take some time adjusting to the talent in 6A. To anoint him as the front runner really shoots down all the work that has been done by O'hara and any other QB that has spent a year working hard and learning a new system. Especially since the Morgan kid has not played a down of varsity football for the program. Even though I think it would be better suited for him,,, that would be like saying now that the McGregor kid is back,, we will make England a lineman,,, even after he carried the team last year. That is my only point

Who ever highlands starts.? Stop it.. That just screams its the system and we could plug in anybody. Question is then could that "unknown player "actually be good in a different situation ? He may put up some numbers due to the "system" that has been implemented for sometime now. No debating that it works. In that being said the next guy up hasn't done squat. The other guys have a proven track record already. So who ever highlands starts isn't in the conversation yet.

 

Most people are not convinced that Morgan has a proven track record as the competition he's played against is not well known up here and thus is suspect. He, like Hergott, will have to prove he belongs in the conversation. I expect by the end of the year both will be.

No. I have no idea the status of any position, I was just going by the fact that he is the one named as the most likely starter. I have heard no other names but of course spring practice has not even occurred yet so lots can still happen.

Who would want the title after the 'fame and shame' of the last 2???

1. Fieger, Beechwood A Senior that should have an outstanding finish to an already very good career.

 

2. Dressman, CCH A Senior that was forced into starting without preparation his sophomore year and did quite well. Good luck next year.

 

These are based upon who I actually saw play so the pool is limited. There might be others better I have not watched, but these two should be pretty good next year.

With all that said, I have a feeling that (this is just guessing on my part, I do not have any information to support what I am about to say at all so don't take it as fact) the reason Morgan went back to Ryle more than anything is because he may have been told it's his job to lose. The reason I say that is because I have heard when his family was moving back here that they actually looked at moving into Cooper school district to send him there to play. It was just one of the options they were looking at. Cooper graduated their QB so the job would have been handed to him basically. They chose instead to go back to Ryle and I'm sure knowing the players there as he grew up with them had something to do with it, but I would be very surprised if Morgan isn't behind center at Ryle come week 1.

I think Cooper is very confident in the talent they have coming up at QB. Granted, no one wants a one and done QB, but the last two did quite nicely. Ludwig has school's passing record and Prickett took the Jags as far as they could go. Nothing in the Pulaski loss was on him.

 

When I asked Borchers about the "prodigy" possibly en route to his door, he wasn't the least bit informed or even interested. Cooper has at least three viable options for next year....may the best man win!!

From what I hear in the community, the Coach Engler they hired a year ago stands taller than the assumption of just "handing something over" to a kid that played 1A. Give that coach more credibility. Who told him it was his to lose, his parents? :sssh:
