Fortunately for me, the wife is a fan as well.

Love me some good crime fiction. Here's a partial list:

Reacher - Lee Child

Pendergast - Lincoln Child & Douglas Preston (not technically crime fiction but an iconic character)

87th Precinct, Matthew Hope - Ed McBain

Lucas Davenport/Prey - John Sandford

Alex Cross - James Patterson

Myron Bolitar - Harlan Coben

Skink - Carl Hiassen

Dave Robicheaux - James Lee Burke

Tess Monaghan - Laura Lippman

Kay Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell

King and Maxwell, Camel Club - David Baldacci

John Keller (Hitman), Matthew Scudder, Bernie Rhodenbarr - Lawrence Block

Spenser - Robert Parker

Elvis Cole - Robert Crais

Kenzie and Gennaro - Dennis Lehane

Harry Bosch - Michael Connelly

Charlie Parker - John Connolly

Easy Rawlins - Walter Mosley

Kurt Wallander - Henning Mankell

Sturgis/Delaware - Johnathan Kellerman

]"Hardy Boys"[/b] - Stratemeyer

"Lord of the Rings" - Tolkien

"Iliad & Odyssey" - Homer , against my will in high school ( seemed like a book series at the time )...:lol2:

"The Frontiersman" - Allan Eckert

Numerous Dee Brown books on American growth into the West.

The Hardy Boys for years.

The Harry Potter books.

Read the Dan Brown books as they came out..but couldn't classify them as a series.

Read Grisham books as they came out for a few years, but same as above.

For the past several years I have only read what my boys are reading. Mostly "mind candy" but I love being able to have book discussions with my boys.

Harry Potter series

Hunger Game series

Divergent series

Rick Riordan books

For myself, I read 6 or 7 Tess Garrison books and two books of Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Both series were kind of rough. I couldn't finish The Girl series just a little too much. I really like John Grisham but I haven't read one of his in about 2 years.

I wish I could say I read more serious, thought provoking novels but I don't. lol

Since I had to stop reading to pass classes nearly 40 years ago, my reading has been pretty daggone light. No crime in that!

"Little House on the Prarie" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder an

"Little Women" books by Louisa May Alcott

Most of the Nancy Drew books, too.

Ah - loved these! I would also add the Anne of Green Gables series, which remain my all time favorite from my youth. Even today there are certain people I immediately identify as "kindred spirits".

In the process of finishing the current installment of the "Jack Ryan" series of Tom Clancy books.

The " Hardy Boys " Franklin W. Dixon :thumb:

Sci-Fi/Fantasy alone (and I KNOW I'm missing some):

Lord of the Rings

Chronicles of Narnia

Eye of the World (Robert Jordan)

Harry Potter

Game of Thrones

The Wicked Years (Gregory Maguire)

Xanth series (Piers Anthony)

Riverworld Saga (Philip Jose Farmer)

Foundation Trilogy (Asimov)

Gormenghast Trilogy (Mervyn Peake)

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever (Stephen R. Donaldson)

Dune series (Frank Herbert)

Hunger Games

Divergent series

Twilight

Wizard of Earthsea Trilogy (Ursula K. Leguin)

Dragonriders of Pern (Anne McCaffrey)

The Engineer Trilogy (K.J. Parker)

Sword of Shanarra Trilogy (Terry Brooks)

The Chronicles of Majipoor (Robert Silverberg)

You got through Xanth series? :lol2: When I was looking up reviews for some new series someone I know mentioned it. Then when I seen a title of one of the books is called the color of her panties I passed on it. I love the Earthsea Trilogy. Very underrated.Thomas Covenant was like pulling teeth to get through Lord Fouls Bane. I'm still proud I was able to finish that one out.

Love that list. I don't know if I've read everything LeGuin has ever written, but it's not for lack of trying.

A. Only read the first 4 or 5 books.

2. Yes - very underrated.

D. Read all 6 books multiple times. Maybe my second-favorite series behind LOTR.

Of all those on the list, The Gormenghast books were the most ponderous. Not recommended by me.

The Left Hand of Darkness = classic.
