January 27, 201511 yr A. Only read the first 4 or 5 books. 2. Yes - very underrated. D. Read all 6 books multiple times. Maybe my second-favorite series behind LOTR. Of all those on the list, The Gormenghast books were the most ponderous. Not recommended by me. I actually looked into these books not to long ago, thankfully I dodged a bullet reading them. Still think the Silmarillion is the toughest book in the world to get through.
January 27, 201511 yr I actually looked into these books not to long ago, thankfully I dodged a bullet reading them. Still think the Silmarillion is the toughest book in the world to get through. That was a tough one, being as how LOTR was so readable.
January 27, 201511 yr That was a tough one, being as how LOTR was so readable. I'm a big Tolkien guy and I thought that one was a doozy. I ended up really getting into it by doing a guided reading via a podcast by Cory Olsen, who styles himself The Tolkien Professor. Really helped me enjoy the book and get what it was all about.

Your list is pretty much what I've read or my "To-Read" shelf on Goodreads :lol2: Ones I've read or am currently reading: Song of Ice & Fire Stormlight Archive Mistborn Harry Potter Malazan Book of the Fallen (made it through 3 of them at least) Chronicles of Narnia LOTR
January 27, 201511 yr ^ I see you stopped near where I stopped in Malazan. I just couldn't connect to anything in the book.
January 27, 201511 yr I've seen several people mention the Alex Cross books by James Patterson. I read the first 2 but lost interest. I am in the midst of the latest Women's murder Club book. I would also recommend the latest Jack Ryan books by Mark Greany. He took over the mantle after Tom Clancy's death and they are still very good. Also a series I caught wind of here was the Harry Turtedove series of alternate history where the Confederacy won the Civil War and remained an independent nation trough WWII. Also: Harry Potter Narnia Song of Fire and Ice Hunger Games I started reading Divergent and lost interest.
