Who in Kentucky High School basketball plays the toughest schedule this year?

I have no idea but it might be interesting to discuss.

I'm going to go with Paul Laurence Dunbar.

Bolded teams either are currently ranked in the top 25 in one poll or another or have been at one point in the season.

I think we had discussed this in a previous thread but I think it was overwhelming agreed that Louisville Trinity plays the most difficult schedule.

Knott County Central

CovCath

Sierra Canyon, CA (#15 in the nation at the time)

Oak Ridge, FL (#19 in the nation at the time)

Monteverde (#1 in the nation at the time)

Weselyn Christian, NC (#3 in the nation at the time)

Oldham County

Lexington Christian

Henderson County (twice)

Boyle County

St. Xavier (twice)

Louisville Central (twice)

Louisville Doss

Lexington Henry Clay

Hopkinsville

Elizabethtown

Lexington Lafayette

Owensboro

Newport Central Catholic

Say what you want about em,,,,,but they play anyone, anywhere.

At first glance i'll give it to Cov Cath. In addition to their regular 9th region schedule (which could probably crack the top 10-15 on it's own) they got, Campbell County and Scott (two top teams in the 10th), Trinity and St. X (big time 7th region teams, on the road), KCC & PCC (two best in the 14th), Cincinnati St. X, Cincinnati Moeller, and Cincinnati Hughes (all on the road), Louisville Central, Henry Clay, PRP, Simon Kenton, and Madison Central.

.

Don't forget about Wilmington, OH too who is top 5 in the state regardless of division, and currently the top D1 team in the state.

good catch, totally scrolled past that

Trinity hands down...

Trinity, PLD and CCH. Anyone have T's schedule?

Agree. They played in one of the elite national tournaments, along with two of the best tourneys in the state.

Then they have regular season match ups against the top 2 teams in the 2nd, top team in the third, top team in the sixth, top 2 in the 9th (all at least arguably top 15 in the state. They also play 3 upper tier 11th region teams.

The only things holding them back a little is they don't play many of the top teams in their own region and they lost in the quarters of the LIT, which kind of go together.

From December through Jan. 2 I would say Bardstown. They played five top-10 teams and 8 in the top 20 during that period. Their schedule got a lot more manageable after that Jan. 2 game v. Hendo and the Tigers got into 5th Region play, but they do have some tough contests remaining, including tonight's loss at Male, with BEast and Doss yet to go, as well as some of the better teams in the 5th.

As of Jan. 20,,The AP poll has them the #4 Div. 1 team in the state..

This thread got me to wondering. Many BGP'ers have maintained that a strong strength of schedule in football is an element (not necessarily the most important element) of succeeding in the post season. Does the same argument hold true in basketball? Many players on HS teams have already been exposed to quality opponents in the AAU circuit. I tend to think that a strong SOS is important in BB but not to the degree as in FB.

The only way to get better is to play better opponents. I think it is critical to play a strong schedule. Plus playing a less than stellar team can get you into some really bad habits which can be hard to break. Play the tough ones and improve week after week until you have no one standing in front of you.

By looking at their records it has to be Ashland and Rose Hill...................LOL
