January 20, 201511 yr Lemon played defensive end for the Calgary Stampeders, but his 6-2, 250-pound frame is likely better suited for an outside linebacker spot in the Pittsburgh defense. Steelers sign CFL pass rusher Shawn Lemon | ProFootballTalk I might end up eating my words but I am laughing at the Steelers right now.
January 20, 201511 yr Obviously their are very few success stories from CFL to NFL.....If he works out like Warren Moon then they got a good one. I figure it is a harmless signing and does not hurt them....but if they catch lightening in a bottle well they look really smart then.
January 20, 201511 yr Author Why laugh? Probably a very low risk deal. I think it is another sign the Steelers are really hurting. I am not laughing at the player, I want all players to be successful.

It's not uncommon for teams to sign a lot of players off the street after the season. I don't think this is a sign of anything other than the Steelers doing their due diligence

January 20, 201511 yr I am shocked teams don't bring in more CFL players. Duron Carter is getting a lot of interest. This is worth a shot. Little monetary investment for the risk.

January 21, 201511 yr Not when they have a QB to resign. Troy off the books perhaps. Some restructuring and an extension for Heyward. Should be ok to make one free agent run, however misguided it will be considering last years gaffe.
January 21, 201511 yr Author Hurting all the way to a division title this year. You guys won the North fair and square this year and beat the Bengals twice. But just like us the last few years, you lost in the first round of the playoffs. And you and I both know you have major issues on defense next year. Big Ben better have another kick tail year.

I have to think that the departure of Lebeau was perhaps a mandate that the organization had to start to leave the past in the past. Ala Troy and Ike retiring. But the strengths of this defense have changed. ILB is a strength. DLine is a strength. OLB and The entire secondary are the weaknesses. Those have changed within the years time.
