January 19, 201511 yr Talk about the rich getting richer by way of her connections. Senator?s husband stands to profit big from government deal | Page Six It certainly does not pass the smell test.
January 19, 201511 yr Some quick math here: $19,000,000,000 divided by 56 buildings is $339,285,714 per building. I don't think our post office buildings, even sort centers, are gonna sell for quite that much.

January 20, 201511 yr This is disgusting. It is amazing that we don't hold our elected officials to the same standards that we hold professionals and even other government employees. A CPA must avoid even the appearance of any issues that would cause a lack of objectivity.

A CPA must avoid even the appearance of any issues that would cause a lack of objectivity. Yet everyone was OK with Cheney and his incestuous relationships with defense contractors. Wonder how much he banked from that deal? Surely his drumbeat for war had nothing to do with beefing up his personal fortune?
January 20, 201511 yr Land deals are lifeblood of government corruption in the 21st century. This one's even less blatant than most, although you'd be hard pressed to find a better-connected, better operated national real estate company than CBRE. They're horrible to deal with, but that's mostly because of their tremendous size and immense holdings. I'm always amazed by how many members of Louisville's Metro Council end up in real estate speculation. It's a remarkable coincidence...
January 20, 201511 yr Why in the heck do people get so upset at these things like it is just starting? It has been happening forever at national, state and local levels. Although, I think it is wrong, it is what it is and will be for a long time.
January 21, 201511 yr What I've learned so far.... 1. Government corruption is ok because because Cheney convinced Bush to attack Iraq so he (Cheney) could get rich off of rebuilding it. And here all this time I thought it was for the oil and to finish what his daddy started. 2. It's ok because this type of thing has been going on forever in government.

Since I brought Cheney into it, no, it's not. Just pointing out that most everyone on here didn't think there was even a sniff of conflict of interest between Cheney's business dealings and his political efforts toward getting us entangled in a decade-long war. It's slimy as hell no matter what side of the aisle is doing it.

I said it was wrong. I don't know how clear I can make it.
