Scott's team is better this year than they were last year. IMO

 

I speculated at the beginning of the season (thread is buried on here somewhere, LOL) that this years Lady Eagles would be better defensively than last years. The increased speed and length of Clephane and Meyer and the physicality and strength of Dant have taken pressure off Kallmeyer, Trempe and Stapleton to play all over defensively. I also speculated that the points per game lost with the transfer would be made up for as each girl on the team picked up an increased share of scoring. Bottom line at the mid point of the season and sitting at 12-5, the girls are having fun and in the end that is probably the most important thing.

As someone said on here previously, there is some talent at Scott that has been "overlooked"

It is shinning now. With multiple players in double digits every game they are hard to defend.

Still have their work to do and some holes to fill in, but looking good heading into the second half : )

Well said. Sometimes as parents we dont put enough emphasis on the having fun part.

Not 100% sure but I think that this is Kayla Krohman. Freshman guard for SK. Heck of a player.

Would like to hear other opinions, but to me this game was no upset. Switch the two teams schedules and I believe Scott could very well have been undefeated and SK would have a similar record to Scott. That being said I cant believe anyone from Scott would think they are better off without Niece.

 

 

OK that's just silly. I looked at each teams schedules and noticed at this point only one common opponent in Ryle. Scott lost to them by 30ish and SK beat them by 30ish so that really blows that theory out of the water. I agree that I think SK would have additional losses but I'm not sure as many. But as the score above and the head to head result shows you the true nature of girls basketball. I am by no means saying this is the case but I also happened to notice this was SK's 3rd game in 4 nights. hmmmmm.

 

Also, your last comment regarding the player is I agree with you 100%. And if they are better off, then they should be questioning their coach. From what I know Scott's current coach was the coach when the player played at Scott so if the team is better without her then the coach is the only one to blame. Not the kid.

 

At the end of the day, all teams have high's and lows. Time will tell if SK just simply was gassed or if they are the real deal. I think the same is said for Scott from that I was told a whole lot of emotion was poured out including the drenching of the coaches (not sure you should do that on hard wood floor or for a regular season game but.... it's all about having fun). Good coaches challenge their teams this time of year because in the end the whole purpose is to make your teams better by challenging them to run as deep as possible in the post season.

Dozer so your saying removing a teams top player, I'm saying top player because that is what I have heard from sometime on here, makes them better?

 

If so, then please explain Scott's coaches the past two years. Is the transfer the issue? Or.... Was its some of Scott's current players? Or better yet some of the same parents that show their jealousy on here daily?

Anytime i hear thing like this i place it know further than the coach. They control playing time and personnel.

I find it absurd that people that claim to know so much about basketball find it so hard to believe that 1 player doesn't make or break a team. Or that someone is to 'blame' (as if it's a bad thing) when other playerS of a team improve from one season to the next. OK, that's just really silly. Comparing Ryle then to Ryle now is apples and oranges. Even they Ryle fans were complaining how the coaching staff hadn't figured out how to use their bigs, but hey it is what it is.

 

But to infer that SK was too tired to play Scott tells me, 1st you weren't at the game because what made that game a fun one to watch was the intensity poured out by both teams on the court from opening tip to final buzzer. 2nd, you really didn't look at their schedule and notice that they had an 8 day rest prior and the first of the 3 games was an easy win over Grant Co. And they did the same thing twice in December with out a stumble.
