Mason County 71 Campbell County 57

Featured Replies

I said this in the Clark County-Paris thread:

1. Mason County

2. Clark County

3. Scott (different team w/Schneider and healthy)

4. Campbell County

Jury still out on Harrison County.

This is pretty much the 'camp' I'm in!

Dang. Sounds like I need to re-evaluate.

CC definitely underachieving IMO based upon their returning personnel. I truly believed Wilson would dominate teams this year.

Have to disagree with you on this. They were so much better last year. Granted the squad they had on the court were all there last year and are now a year more mature but they are missing one of the best players in the region from last year. I saw Corey Holbrook sitting on the Camels side tonight. They could of used him. When he played well, they were a tough out.

Like I said in the prediction thread for this game... No one in the 10th can guard Dorian Henry. He needs to get more recognition across the state.

OMara only played limited minutes due to foul trouble. So Henry had to pull the big man duties all by himself. Hats off to the subs who lend him a hand. They did a great job on Wilson.

Corey Holbrook

Great player, but what I liked about him the most was his competitiveness and energy. Mason County had that as a team tonight. Campbell punched them in the mouth 3 or 4 times, but the Royals came back strong every time.

Mason County punched Campbell in the mouth during that 3rd quarter & the Camels just didn't get much done after that.

While the Royals were clearly better tonight, in no way am I writing off Campbell County. Almost exactly one year ago, I saw Russell's bunch play a game like this. Close game at halftime & then the Camels got blown out...Brossart beat them by 19. They fixed things last year & they have the talent to do so again.

I agree with your assessment. Russell does a great job and though I still don't think they were the best team in the region last year, he had them believing they were and they peaked at the right time. Great athletes and very dangerous.

Also, we've given Henry a lot of attention--deservedly so--but Pig Williams & Dee Johnson played well too. Williams had 15 & Johnson 11.

Dorian Henry is a heck of a player and made it tough for anybody to score inside. Camels only shot about 35% for the game and missed a lot of close shots. In my opinion the game changed after the "intentional foul" on CC. That was an 8 point swing as the Camels missed a layup, Mason made the basket, got the 2 FTs and then scored after getting the ball back on the intentional foul. CC went from being up 36-34 to down 40-36. After a few bad possessions the Camels were down 9 and had to foul and start gambling. Trent McGovney had another great game scoring 15 points on 6-7 shooting. They will need him to continue to be a scoring threat. Mason shot twice as many free throws (22-27 vs 11-14) as CC. Not sure the Camels got the "home cookin" some claim they get.

Henry Was Outstanding Tonight. Challenge Wilson On Both Ends of the Floor.. After Seeing Both Of my Picks for 10 Region Player Of Thee Year (Jackson & Henry) I'll say it's a close call.

No home cookin in this game. That is for sure.

Camels will make adjustments and become a better team. I would not be so quick to write them off.

Congratulations to the Royals.

can't coach pointed some of you out to me tonight. I was on the other side of the gym.

Wait! we met tonight? :idunno:

No, I didn't do a very good job of editing that quote.....

And also, on Feb 6, 2014, Mason beat Campbell 80-66, so their definitely capable of fixing things.

No one is writing the Camels off. Coach Russell and his staff have the players and will have them ready again come tourney time.

No home cookin in this game. That is for sure.

I'm pretty confident Coach Russell will have a game plan. Btw...those boys are adorable!

Just give it a few more years .... "Shot no good ... rebound by McGovney ... he passes to McGovney .... McGovney to McGovney for the three ..."
