January 6, 201511 yr If steroids didn't have the nasty side effects id be with this thinking. It was a lot more fun when you would see 50+ home runs a year fr multiple players. Now 30 is a big number. I do love a good 1-0 pitching duel, but a 6-7 slug fest was awesome too. I've always felt that if someone wants to ruin their body and brain for a 4 year-75 million dollar contract then have at it. If I'm being honest I can't say that the temptation to juice wouldn't have had me juicing if I was in their situation.

You can abuse steroids and ruin the hell out of your body. I am all for whatever use in baseball b/c you really are only hurting yourself, there is very limited physical contact w/ other players. As for who gets in, voters will not vote you in if there is a somewhat sneaking suspicion, let alone strong suspicion, that you used. That changes my mind on Piazza getting in. Whether we agree w/ it or not, it is the way it is. It is an either let them all in, or none of them. So far it has been none.

I may be in the minority but I think steroids ruined the Hall of Fame simply because of how the writers are mishandling the steroid era. It's hard to take the Hall of Fame seriously at this point because of the writers desire to NOW become judge and jury of an era they happily participated in. As much as I love the game of baseball this has turned me off from baseball more than anything else.
January 6, 201511 yr Nope. It's because some used synthetic drugs to continue their career and put up bigger #s; the other is just a pathetic gambling addict. So, you want to throw Willie Mays out then?
January 6, 201511 yr I'll say, outside of the very 1st class, this has to be the best pitching class ever.
January 6, 201511 yr Author Piazza got 69.9% of the votes, meaning he's almost a shoe-in next year when Ken Griffey Jr. is the only 1st timer who will get in.
January 6, 201511 yr Author Bagwell and Raines each got 55% of the votes. In other news, Aaron Boone got 2 votes.
January 6, 201511 yr Great class this year, hard to be mad about this one. Can't wait for next year as Griffey goes in, might have to make the trek up to Cooperstown for his induction

January 6, 201511 yr Griffey will get in, but he shouldn't if the voters were consistent. The PED case for him is as strong as the one being made against Bagwell.
January 6, 201511 yr Some great Pedro stories bouncing around Twitter right now. @CSNBaggs: I'll never forget interviewing Pedro once: DeShields appears on a TV, Pedro stops, points, shouts, "That's him! Lasorda traded me for HIM!"
