January 6, 201511 yr I agree that he is very lucky. And more lucky that someone else wasn't hit. But there are accidents and then there is carelessness. The number of preventable deaths from firearms each year that could be avoided if it wasn't for carelessness. Thankfully he will be okay.
January 6, 201511 yr Glad he's okay and glad it didn't end up like Akai Gurley. Both officers should not be allowed to carry again for a long, long time.
January 6, 201511 yr The duty-issued .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun discharged and the bullet ricocheted off the walls of the elevator and struck Jouett in the stomach, police said. I'm wondering how they came to that conclusion. Sure looked like he shot himself directly.
January 6, 201511 yr The guy is a careless idiot! Careless absolutely, but to call him an idiot for an accident? That's absurd and quite frankly dumb. I'm sure you've accidentally done some stupid stuff before, so by your logic, does that make you an idiot too?
January 6, 201511 yr Another Black Man shot by the gun of a Police Officer...when is it going to stop

You might wanna get some new readers there old timer. LOL
January 6, 201511 yr I actually could see the bullet discharge toward the elevator door. You might wanna get some new readers there old timer. LOL Somewhere I read that the gun slipped from his hand and when he went to catch it, that is where the gun fired. I could not tell that from the video. However, never try to catch a falling gun, too much risk your finger could go in the trigger guard and guns made since WWII have some many drop safety features in them, you stand a better change of winning the lottery and being struck by lightning on the same day than a falling gun discharging.
