Statement in district win from the Wildcats! Hunter Lea had 15 rebounds to lead the game as well. Wildcats continue to improve but have a tall task next as they face a nice Augusta Panther squad.

This game was about one thing for PC...respect. They came in with a chip on their shoulder about being 3rd (and in some cases,4th) in the district rankings. Pendleton controlled this game from the onset with a hot shooting performance behind the arc from a myriad of players. Robbie Gaskins drew the assignment of tailing Newton around the court, and held him in check when he was on the floor. Antrobus putting up 31 is no fluke. He had an off night against Lloyd, only scoring 2. When the team returned back to PCHS that night, he had an assistant stay after so he could get some shots up. On top of that, he was in the gym the last 2 mornings working when I got to school at 7.

You just got to love that commitment and desire to get better. And to see the youngster Allen playing well. Things in PC have really improved and I think currently is the #2 team in the district. That's coming from one of those that had them third at best in the preseason. Still have some work to do to take that top spot but they are definitly going in the right direction. :thumb:

May have to head down to Falmouth on Monday for this game if I could get RP to meet me there and pay my way in:thumb:

He is going to be a good one for PC. Congrats to them and coaching staff on the win!!!

This game was about how well PC shot tonight. They had been shooting about 33% from the field coming in. They couldn't miss. They made several shots at or beyond the college 3-pt line with NC defenders close. Allen is going to be a special player. Probably be at a private school or Scott County soon. PC was very physical and much stronger inside. Nicholas continues to miss easy shots at point blank range that is costing them. Duncan has had two games in a row that were big offensively, but his defense is not as good when he's in that mode. He sets the tone for the team on defense. Nicholas is struggling to find the inside presence it had with Fryman and Keaton last year. As far as Gaskins "holding Newton in check", I'll just say his teammates don't work hard enough to get him easier shots. He has to get most of his on his own. One AAU coach at the game told me the same thing and said he would score 25-30 every night the way he shoots it if they would look to get him easier shots. He made 5 of 9 shots tonight and found his way to the FT line drawing at least 5 PC fouls. Just like this week, he's had to pull up or step back to NBA range to get a look. He still finished with 20. Stats have him at 13 for 26 from 3-pt. the last 3 games. Kid has a stroke. Ask Danville, Augusta, and even Pendleton. I don't think talking with Coach Newton that he is worried about where Pendleton was ranked or even where his team is ranked in pre-season. He is focused on improvement with his club, consistent post play, getting better defensively, and being ready at district time this year if they draw the Cats or the Breds.

Why do you have to say that Allen's going to leave for Scott County/Private School thing? Let's just enjoy him while he's in Falmouth. Lol. This young man's gonna be a good one!
