what's the case a crossed Union? Moving up to 6a HB. What do you guys have on the shelf.

what's the case a crossed Union? Moving up to 6a HB. What do you guys have on the shelf.

IM guessing the reason for moving up is the estimated growth at the school will put Cooper at 6A in a few years anyway.

They return a lot next year from the largest roster to date for them. Around 70 this past season so I would expect it to go up a little next year.

Campbell County may be lucky to get 60 players out in 2015 for grades 10,11, and 12. It depends a lot on how many of this year's freshmen play next year. New facilities, 800+- boys in the school what could be the problem??

So what % of your school's athletes choose to play football? In south Campbell County bishop brossart has no home field, will have to travel all over the state to play their district games but still has approximately 10% of the boys in their school playing. On the other hand Campbell County high has one of the nicest facilities in the state but only draws the same percentage (10%). Lickert wake up, you can't make football teams on your resume! You came from one of the programs best motivators ever to what???

Maybe coach, you could pay attention to what's go on in you're youth and middle school leagues to encourage players to play in high school!

Winning programs in the state like Mayfield, highland, beechwood, desales, trinity, cal, bowling green, etc, etc are planning on 2015 NOW

That's not a bad ratio imo. The school I'm at has 3000 and about 150 kids in the program 9-12.

What is a good percentage%

The Rocks will reload with the usual 100-110 man roster. There will be 65-85 freshmen as well.

Using Trinity, 165 to 195 students, with 1294 total enrollment = 12.7% to 15% estimates

CC this last year, 105 players 9-12, with 759.5 male students = 13 % actual

There is a Youth/Middle School forum for this discussion

I'm guessing the reason is that a couple of 4A schools in NKY are moving to 5A. No harm meant, just food for thought.

I saw Lickert on the sidelines for a couple middle school games last year. Can't speak for youth games, but remember, coaching Varsity football is a 7 day a week job. I'm not sure any varsity head coach is putting in a ton of time at the youth or middle school level. I'd also say it's up to the youth and middle school programs to recruit their own players. If kids are leaving or not joining the youth/middle school team, that's on them, not the high school coach.

Well, isn't Cooper playing Highlands this year?? And from what I understand the requests to move up or down, weren't made public during the process. As Hellbird mentioned, Cooper is going to be 6a during the next realignment, and is already playing all the 6a schools in their area anyway. So moving to 6a gives them a little more schedule flexibility. With what Cooper has accomplished in a short time, and the way they've scheduled in the past, I don't think Cooper is running from anybody.

Yea, as JHS said, has absolutly nothing to do with the schools moving up to 5A, Cooper is playing Highlands anyway so that would have nothing to do with it. If anything knowing the future growth of Union and the fact that all the other Boone County Schools (Ryle, Boone, Conner) will be in 6A it only makes sense knowing the close proximity to eachother.

First, my appoligies to coach Lickert. He does an outstanding job with the players that he gets. My frustration lies in the fact that WE (including myself) don't get the players to the varsity level. Counting on this years roster there are 39 10th and 11th graders, plus maybe you get 25 freshmen to move up, so that gets us 65 plus or minus varsity players. I guess that's plenty if they all want to play.

That's just a way of life in football. Each class seems to diminish as the move up. Usually because kids see the writing on the wall that they won't get much playing time. When I was a freshman at Trinity we had 110 kids come out and each year that number got small and I think we had 30-35 seniors when I graduated. The school I'm at now will have 50-60 kids on the freshmen team but we seem to keep about 20-25 of them by their senior year. It's just the way it is.

I will say that the more you win the more kids wills stick around just to be a part of a winning program.

Corbin will have approximately 50 returning players next year and are expecting a very large freshman class(30 or so).

Just looking @ teams in Fayette Co since I live close to that area, outside of Henry Clay with 26 seniors on this years team, Station, Lafayette & Tates Creek each graduate 14 seniors with Paul Dunbar only having 7.

That being said, many of these teams have to suit up everyone on Friday night to appear to have the numbers of a true 6A team. in all honesty, some of these teams are no bigger than some 3A teams, as 4chs mentioned above, have on their sideline on the same night if they only dressed out the upperclassmen.

As an example lets look @ Tates Creek. This year they rostered 70 football players 9-12

seniors------14

juniors------18

soph--------12

fresh--------26

Very small team for 6A with really only 44 student-athletes that would be viable options on the field on a Friday Night.
