December 2, 201411 yr Also for the record I agree on the schools , they need to be fixed. But I don't think they can be until we address the street Gang issue. Climbing the ladder is hard on anyone of anyone race if you start at or near the bottom. The least we can do is make public housing and schools safe. In a perfect world we wouldn't need public housing it goes against my core beliefs to allow endless free housing. But it only makes sense if we are going to have it , to make it safe and rid of gangs. Agreed.
December 2, 201411 yr For the record the government has spent billions if not trillions to stop the influx of drugs. Yeah, that is what the government tells us and wants us to believe. I get it.
December 2, 201411 yr Read your last sentence again. Now, explain to me why the government at federal, state and city levels made minimal effort to stop the influx of drugs, put up quality schools and put up quality housing in the inner cities of America? Why did the government focus on putting the crack dealers in jail and not focus on getting rid of the crack? The government has bailed out the banks and auto industries but have yet to bail out inner cities from the stench of decades of decimation. What do you consider minimal? They put crack dealers in jail because that's all they can do. Getting rid of crack or any drug is a pipe dream, you will never ever, I repeat never ever, stop the influx of drugs. Look at the methods the cartel/smugglers use to get it here, there's always a way. The fact is as long as the system stays the way it is it impossible to stop. We aren't prepared to make the changes needed to make a real impact so fact is it will remain impossible to stop.
December 2, 201411 yr I don't get any of this ? So first you say they do nothing but then admit they arrest crack dealers. The War on drugs has failed and is failing , your not going to hear me argue any different. But that does not mean the US government has not tried to stop drugs from coming in. The government could spend every dime we have on stopping drugs it doesn't matter. As long as a crook can make a buck I'll be able to buy any drug I want. I'm guessing the herion epidemic in predominately white NKY is a plot against young white youths. This is just silly and nonsense. The heroin epidemic just arrived to NKY. Heroin ruined Baltimore so much they made a TV show about it. My comment on the crack dealers is simple. Until you stop the crack from coming in there will always be crack dealers I don't care how many you arrest. Meanwhile the prisons are full of crack dealers, private and government jails make money off of these overfilled jails full of crack dealers yet somehow nobody is getting rid of the crack. That's my whole point. You'll never be able to convince me that a.) the government has no clue where the drugs are coming from b.) the government is doing enough to stop the drugs from coming through and c.) the government isn't making money off of illicit drugs in America.

If they can't stop it then do away with DEA and spend that money somewhere else. Waste of time, money and resources.
December 2, 201411 yr Yeah, that is what the government tells us and wants us to believe. I get it. If there is one thing you should know about me is my disagreement with the war on drugs and the money spent. This is one area I'm very informed on it and the money spent is real. The efficency is a problem. But anytime big government is involved it's an issue.
December 2, 201411 yr We'll agree to disagree. If they can't stop it then do away with DEA and spend that money somewhere else. Waste of time, money and resources. DEA would be better served as the GEA . Gang enforcement unit . You realize a majority of these drugs come from cartels who are brown not white. Enforcing the border instead of rewarding lawlessness would go a long way as well.

December 2, 201411 yr Yes and yes. I also feel like our government has turned a blind eye at times as well. AlSo the reason I suggested using the RICO statue in another thread similar to the Italian Mafia is leverage. The more weight they can put on lower level people to flip the easier it is to get the big fish. Sometimes I agree I don't know how eager we are to get to the top of the food chain. Maybe eager isn't the right word some law enforcement is hand cuffed in what leverage they can use. Someone already mentioned we already know what we are doing now doesn't work. It's going to take a creative thinker to come up and flip the "game" on its head.

Unless everyone is ready to treat the "War on Drugs" as an actual war then yes, quit wasting the time and money. You really want to stop it, then start using the military/CIA to take out the cartels as well as the domestic gangs. You want to end the drug problem or at least take a huge step in that direction quit trying to build cases against the gangs. Start executing them and it won't take long for the message to become clear. Same with cartels. Ever seen Clear and Present Danger? There you go. You catch someone coming across the border with the an RV loaded with drugs? Line em up on the side of the road for everyone to see and shoot them, set the RV on fire.

What you describe would work but in a free society we couldn't do that to street gangs. We could treat cartels that way.
December 2, 201411 yr What you describe would work but in a free society we couldn't do that to street gangs. We could treat cartels that way. You couldn't treat cartels that way. If they are here, even illegally, there would be those that say we are violating their Constitutional rights.

I'm talking about the cartels outside the border declare war on them . They become enemey combatants and we create craters. If we're going to spend billions might as well get our monies worth.
