Is Johnson Central ever in the discussion for a state title...NO

 

This question is about the strength of program...not head to head match-ups.

 

Back in the late 70's EKU was winning titles and going to four straight championship games, how many years would they have beat UK or UT...1 time maybe if Lucky. Which one had the dominant program at the time? EKU!

For the record I don't know any of my fellow JC fans that wouldn't agree Belfry is the model program in the East. They are the best.

I hear that all the time from JC fans. The truth is when JC has stepped out onto the state stage vs state competition they have failed more than they have succeeded. What is their record vs HHS, Cov Cath, Boyle, Bell? Will they ever step out and play great programs beyond their comfort zone? Belfry has pretty good records vs all opponents. Plus three state titles and numerous finals appearances.

 

What is Belfry's record against Highlands, CovCath, Boyle, and Bell over the previous 10 seasons?

Prior to 2007, Belfry's record against JC on the football field was something like 27-0, making the overall record in the 30-5 range.

 

Honestly though, I'm not sure how to evaluate that into this discussion since I can't yet figure out what the parameters are. :idunno:

 

Johnson Central was not the Johnson Central of today during those first 27 games.

 

Therefore, they are not part of the equation.

They have not played any of them...but considering Bell has been in the same class as Belfry the past 4 years and haven't came close to Belfry's success you can take that for what is worth.

 

What is Johnson Central's record playing up or against the best teams in their classification? How many times has Johnson Central played a ranked 5A or 6A team in that time frame?

Johnson Central is the King of the East because they have defeated Belfry in 5 of the past 8 meetings.

 

Div 1AA and Div 1 competition are much further apart than 4A and 3A are in Kentucky high school football.

Bell County is not the same Bell County teams as year's past. Many things have changed at Bell County - many of them needed to be changed.

 

Johnson Central has won 5 out of the past 8 meetings with Belfry going back to 2008. Enough said. Belfry is not the King of the East.

That why I said I don't know of any. Meaning the ones I know which is a small percent. For someone arguing on the basis of the way something is stated you sure missed the wording in my post.

So let's compare what Sheldon Clark did against Belfry head to head when he did not have an enrollment advantage.

Sheldon Clark is not Johnson Central just as Matney is not entirely Johnson Central.

 

Matney is a big part of Johnson Central; however, the combination of Matney and the Johnson Central players is what has made Johnson Central the more successful team in the East.
