Yes. But I think the O line on this squad is better. The defense overall is about the same. The running game on this years squad is better. Definitely give Passing to the 04 team. The overall Quality of team is very comparable.

Would Brockman have been the D1AA tackle?

 

Metzger was a good RB for that team but I do think the Moore/Zajac/Barrett trio is better. Moore and Zajac better individually than Metzger who would get the nod over the sophomore Barrett as an individual right now.

Dixie hasn't been in the state semi-finals before. The Boone game in 04 was in the regional final.

Ballard had a barn burner against Butler. they will be recovering from the normal bruises/minor injuries received in a close game.

 

How will Ballard's tough game effect them? Will it better prepare them for a much tougher Dixie or did it take something out of them.

How will Dixie's second blowout over Simon Kenton effect them? With two near running clock games against Simon Kenton they had to be sleep walking last week.

 

Ballard will have much more fight than Simon Kenton and no way they roll over. But will this be enough?

 

This looks more like Dixie versus Ryle. Ryle put up a good fight against Dixie in both games but it just wasn't enough.

 

I'll predict Ballard's speed keeping it close for three quarters, but Dixie pulling away in the fourth.

As I stated earlier in this thread (I think it was this one) I know nothing about Ballard so I can't speak of how they match up with Dixie or anything like that but as to the bold part; Dixie was not sleep walking last week. The players kept the energy high all game long. Getting a shutout against SK in the regional championship was something they very much wanted. Mentally they stayed in the game the whole time making sure they executed their assignments to assure a 0 stayed on the visitor's side of the scoreboard.

 

And with the game only being 10-0 at half and 17-0 after 3, the offense was mentally checked into the game to try to create more breathing room against SK with their play makers in Powell and Winkler.

I think this will be a good one. Will be rooting for Dixie all the way! If you get to the finals, you have a chance to silence the critics...including me. I only say that because I have challenged them on this run with their schedule a little. Beating Ballard and whoever comes out of the other side would be clear validation of how good they really are and I would love nothing better. The Dixie fans, unlike other fans, have a much better taste of reality. I think they know to show the rest of the world how good their group is this year, they have to win out. Or at least be competitive in the next two games. I think they do have to beat Ballard and then at least play the next team close. We knew this side of the bracket was weak, so getting here was essential. Now finishing will tell the tale IMO.
