A game that looked like the Bred's were going to blow out Newport, up 25 to 3 in the second qtr., Newport comes back and cuts the lead to 28 to 26 in the fourth quarter. The turnovers for the Wildcats were just too much to over come, and the Bred's advance.

Newport has good size( bigger than newcath) and speed but no depth at all. NewCath has more athletic kids and are FAR better coached and it showed tonight. When I am coughing all day tomorrow I am blaming lawnboy for not letting me sit with him

Congrats to NCC and good luck! Great season Newport, you gave the school excitement they haven't had in a long time! One heck of a run!

Congratulations to the Breds. Tonight proved why I was scared to pick against them. Newport definitely has talent, but their level of discipline is where it was when the season started. Either way, I look for things to continue getting better for the Wildcats with the coach there now. Newport has some good seasons ahead in its future.

If Jacob Smith would have stayed at Newport, NCC is not even in this game.

Great game by both teams, NewCath was able to overcome a bunch of their own penalties. Newport fumbled 3 times inside their own 30 yard line. Definitely a game-changer. I'm sure Newport's coaching staff will improve that moving forward. Congrats to the wildcats on a great season, they look to be really building something promising there. Good luck to NewCath on the long trip down to eastern KY

This place is crazy, every post should be taken down if it's negative towards athletes and coaches. Don't ask who some might be related to or they're full of crap.

Box Score, Scoring Summary, Individual Stats, Play-by-Play, and embedded replay of the game below. Thanks to Lawnboy13 for his assistance in the booth spotting for me. Also, a big thanks to the NCC statistician who does a great job (his numbers are official, not mine)! I had a good time working with the NKY Sports crew.

Says the only guy to mention a kid by name.

When did he leave??? He started 9th grade at NewCath right?

Hope Lawnboy mad it home safe. Its unlike him to not have posted stats in the post game thread by now...

But he did go to NCC, and it turns out, he made the right decision. Smith is a great athlete and a big asset to NCC, but he is only one person. There are many good athletes on NCC's team. You can't judge a team and a potential outcome of a game on whether one kid played on one team or another. Give all the boys on NCC's team credit. One kid doesn't make a team, all those kids contribute to the team's success.
