But you get out of area officials at this level of the playoffs...but you are 100% on regular season games

 

I can't imagine what some out of area officials would have against the city of Corbin and the type of hospitality that I've seen shown to out-of-towners there.

:lol2: I remember a game many many years ago against a team out of Knoxville (Maybe Austin East)...fans wore KFC buckets for hats and threw chicken at the bus.

I've been to quite a few Corbin sporting events at Corbin, and I'll say that, in my experience at least, Corbin is usually NOT getting robbed on their own turf.

 

They were tonight. It reminded me of the old days at Clay Co. when Bobby Keith was in charge. Corbin jumped on Central, and give them a lot of credit for hanging tough, but the officials took over and every call started going one way. They even threw a backwards pass where the RB was 5 yds. behind the QB, but the white hat called it an incomplete pass. Central then scores on the next play.

Pass bounces off WR and the RB catches for Central goes to the 15 and gets tackled as time runs out. Face mask on Corbin. Central scores on untuned play. 36-33 final. Central wins.

 

I'd really love to see video of this play.

It was a very good game. Corbin got a little timid defensively, playing bend but don't break type defense and Central was able to nickel and dime it through the air down the field. They went 80 yards in the final 1:30 of the first half to score on the last play before halftime, this after Corbin had a long TD run called back on a holding call. The flag was thrown after he was 40 yds down the field and came from the opposite sideline(Central's side), saw the flag thrown and there could have been a hold, it was just very dubious timing. Central then scored after receiving the opening kickoff of the second half, after having the drive kept alive after an incompletion on 3rd down by a late hit penalty on Corbin. I have no idea what the backjudge(who seemed to always throw his flag at the most inopportune time) saw because the WR had the ball in his hands when the Corbin player made the hit, knocking the ball loose. The next to last play is foggy to me because it looked like the Corbin DB was going to intercept the pass when the Central player hits him and the ball looks like it is just falling to the ground when someone on the ground kicks it and it bounces to another Central player who is then tackled with the clock at 00. Corbin storms the field thinking they have won, then the official clears them off the field and there was an apparent penalty called. So now Central gets an untimed down and the Central player dives for a low throw, which may or may not have skipped off the ground for the game winning TD. The officials all looked around at each other before the back judge finally signaled TD.

I have a rules question that came up during this game. There was a live ball penalty called just inside the 20 yd line on the defense, the officials marked off the penalty to the 13 yard line and then they set the sticks and made it 1st down and 6. What was the reason for this?

So we aren't just a shade over a decade past Corbin had students waving nooses and rebel flags at black players from OBI during the All A (at Corbin)? I seem to remember it being around 2003, which wasn't really that long ago.

 

Or there isn't or never was a "Rebel Week" at Corbin when they play Casey County, complete with shirts with Rebel flags being made up and sold?

 

There's no Woodbine Softball Tournament with tons of Confederate memorabilia attached to everything you could think of?

 

There are enough good people in Corbin (like yourself) to not let things like that go on, but to say that it doesn't happen and trying to convince an outsider of it is just burying your head in the sand. Sorry, you just can't justify that kind of crap in my book. I don't think your like that 4chs, and I genuinely mean that, but I don't think I can say the same for the community as a whole given some of their actions.

 

Corbin may be better today, but it's still a Corbin that I'd proffer a guess as being less prejudiced only when compared to the Corbin of old.

 

I'm not going to shed any tears for the Hounds because a Louisville school came in and beat them on their own field, and I'm especially not going to when Corbin fans are saying they were robbed, in all places, on their home field.

 

Grew up in Clay County and it'd be like me saying Clay County got stuck on their home floor or that there weren't various problems in the area that need fixed. Sorry, just not going to happen. I'd say it about my own birthplace like I'd say it about Corbin and I won't apologize for it.
