November 27, 201411 yr Three themes come out in the movie. 1) Rescuing Peeta. Katniss' overriding desire is to continue protecting/rescuing Peeta. Her great regret is getting separated from him at the end of Catching Fire, and allowing Peeta to be captured by the Capitol. 2) The "Games" never end. Whether it's the obvious games played by the Capitol, or the subtle ones of the rebels (they planned to rescue the victors at the end of Catching Fire without telling Katniss or Peeta), she becomes aware that people are using her. 3) The high cost of war, even for the winners. War costs everything you are (damage to yourself & friends, being forced to take others' lives, even "good guys" get killed) As Haymitch says, "There are no winners. There are survivors, but no winners."
November 28, 201411 yr I enjoyed the movie. I believe they spent more on this one than the first two because the special effects were great. And the acting was very good too, especially Jennifer Lawrence and Woody Harrelson.
November 28, 201411 yr It was OK, not as good as the first two. Entire movie just seemed to be a set up for 4, which it is I guess. Weak stand alone movie.

While I think part 2 will indeed be very good. I hate these half movies. I feel like I sat there for nothing. I wish I had just waited and watched it on DVD right before part 2 comes out.
November 28, 201411 yr It was OK, not as good as the first two. Entire movie just seemed to be a set up for 4, which it is I guess. Weak stand alone movie. I kind of figured that would be the case for this one. I almost went to watch it last night, but think I'll wait until this is out on DVD.
December 1, 201411 yr Author READ THE BOOK!!! You won't regret it. Don't forget that it's YA (young adult); it's a quick read. You could probably read it in 1-2 days (although I always go slower to savor my favorite parts). I do plan on reading it and them some day. But I figure, I haven't read any yet and have really enjoyed the movies. So I think I'm going to wait until the last movie comes out, then go back and read all the books.
