I haven't heard a time on the other Catholic Skill players, but the QB and WR Riney are both great athletes. i would bet my house they are quicker than 5.0 in the 40.

I think the 63 points will be from the lack of overall defense on both sides. I think OCath and Murray are gonna have a hard time stopping each other. Caldwell only scored 31 so you may be correct.

This game is becoming a huge playoff rivalry in 2A football in western Kentucky. Murray seems to be the kryptonite to OCath but the Aces feature a team this year that is very versatile and can beat you in multiple ways. Defensively, OCath has a tough time stopping the run. However I think OCath is going to make Murray try and beat them with the pass. If Murray can run the ball at will on OCath, then the Aces are in trouble. However, if OCath can make Murray throw a little, that drastically turns the tide in the Aces favor. Offensively, I see OCath being able to do pretty much whatever they want. Murray's defense isn't exactly stellar and OCath can be effective running or passing the ball. The only thing that can trip up OCath offensively is turnovers. If the Aces can stay away from that, they'l win.

 

At the end of the day, I see OCath's defense being able to make enough stops to get the job done.

Everybody that plays Murray tries to make them pass, it doesn't usually work. They can run successfully against stacked boxes because they're used to it. I would venture to say OC has taken this same strategy into the last few they have lost to them. The only real question is can Murray get some stops of their own.

IF anyone thought the 2013 OC team was better then Murray is on Crack!!. Murray took a 10 point lead and Catholic came back. With under 3minutes to go in the game the score was 23-20. Catholic got the field goal blocked for a TD and then a pick six the next series.

 

In 2010 Murray was WAY better then OC and OC won.

 

This 2014 Murray team is better then OC in every shape and form.

 

Murray has better athletes and bigger kids then OC every year and they are always in a dog fight with them.

 

Hmmm, I've never been called a crackhead before, that's a good one... a dropped TD in the endzone before that FG was the difference maker last year. Cool thing is that last year's QBs for OC and Murray are roommates at Murray State this year...

If Murray gets a few stops & with the cold temps usually being in favor of the running team and the fact they can control clock, limiting OC Possessions they will pull off the win. If OC jumps out on top and the cold temps doesn't bother their passing game, game over their favor because Murray is not set up to come from behind. Just my Opinion.

Cold weather normally favors the running team in this type of matchup. We will see if the freezing football's have an impact on Catholic's passing game. A few balls off the hands of WR's could result in turnovers. I think turnovers will be the factor one way or the other. Catholic has been much improved in their run defense in the second half of the season but that is also against much weaker/smaller opponents. I have heard that Morton will not be in uniform again this week for the Aces. They could sure use him. I get to call the play by play for this game for WVJS in Owensboro and im looking forward to it as much as any game ive done in any sport. Should be a real good one!

They've also played a much tougher schedule.. Holding Mayfield to 21 and Caldwell to 31 is saying quite a bit about there D.. I give OBC the advantage at QB and a better passing game, other than that, I favor Murray about everywhere else..

Giving up 28 to Madisonville was not great.

37 to Union Co. not great either.

 

Catholic's weak defense against weaker opponents only gave up 20 to union (a common opponent). With 14 coming from JV. The clock was running at halftime. Murray was down 23-20 with 5 minutes to go in the half. If they start that way against OC it will become a problem for them.

 

Should be an interesting game as always. Take records, rankings, off rankings, def rankings and watch 2 teams get after it.

 

Turnovers will be key in this game. It has in the last 4 meetings. Murray turn it over 5 times in the 2010 and lost.

 

The last three meeting they have only turned it over 3 times while OC had 12. TO me, that's a vital stat. The interesting thing is with Catholic's turnover problem, they are always in the game. I think that's because of their D. In 2013 Murray's D scored 21 pts. OC eliminates turnover problem and only has 1-2. OC will win. Catholic continues turnover problem, Murray WINS. That's your (Advertisement) Vital stat of the night.

Cold nights are a friend to defense and I like Murray's better. While having not watched OC play I did see Murray play Mf and they were impressive
