October 27, 201411 yr Six University of Cincinnati football players have been arrested in just two months. In the newest incident, according to Hamilton County Court documents, sophomore line-backer Marcus Tappan, 19, is charged with disorderly conduct, underage drinking and having a fake ID after trying to break into a house in the 2400 block of Ohio Avenue near campus. Court records said Tappan was slurring his speech, smelled of alcohol and admitted he drank when police arrested him around 1 a.m. Sunday. Police said Tappan threw bricks through a window and was seen climbing in to retrieve property. This one looks like breaking and entering in addition to underage drinking. 6 arrests in two months, even if they were all underage drinking, looks to me like a serious discipline problem on the team.

No breaking and entering charges were filed. Like I said, they need to clean it up, but so far it is nothing more than college kids being stupid...

I'm a Tommy fan as a person off the field (heck, he loves golf even more than I do, and I didn't think that was possible), but when your head coach is only somewhat checked in, you'll have these things. Is it the cause of them? No. However, it exacerbates the situation when everyone knows the coach is not killing himself on the job, AND your players are getting arrested / into trouble at an alarming rate. I am certain that Tommy and Whit had an understanding when he was hired, not expecting you to kill yourself, big name, win the press conference, need a splash, etc.... Now that Mike Bohn is in there, I'd be interested to see how that dynamic is going and if the expectations placed upon Tommy have changed. GT, can you give some thoughts there? Thanks.

Reality is when you have 100 kids on a team between 18-23 some of them will be idiots from time to time. Charges not being filed doesn't change the nature of the incident. I do agree that college kids are going to be stupid, that's why I said there appears to be a discipline issue on the team. It doesn't appear to be anything that can't be corrected but after 5 arrests you would think the fear of God would have been put into the team. Apparently not.

The biggest "issue" outside of Evans is that kids that aren't on the depth chart are drinking on the weekend. Doesn't fit the headline driven narrative that is building, so they now have a "problem" to fix...

Remember four of them happened at the same time when a party got broken up. Cops showed up and the under age drinkers were cited. Saying they were arrested is stretching for sensationalism...

I'd love to know if Bohn has told Tommy that he needs to step it up or if he is okay with how things are running. Again, this could be Bohn's opportunity to say, Tommy, you need to tighten things up. Or, Tommy finishes up the season and bolts for something south and east of here in December.

From what I've heard the wife isn't leaving her family...
