The opportunity to participate in regular season contests shall

end at all levels of play (grades 9-12) on the Saturday preceding

the first KHSAA Tournament (District, Region or State), with the

exception that the varsity team may practice and play through

its elimination from KHSAA sanctioned tournament play.

Following elimination, there shall be no further practice or play

during the remainder of the academic school year.

As far as taking the helmets off goes, it comes down to a health thing. Its common sense, especially when it is hot out, to take your helmet off to cool down fast when you are not out on the field. If we want to go back and rely on traditional health and safety standards, why aren't we suggesting the kids just take a few salt tablets for hydration? Because we have learned that their are more effective ways to hydrate. Same goes for cooling down by removing the helmet. Again, if you are viewing taking a helmet off on the sideline as an indication that Highlands is veering away from tradition, then I strongly suggest you reconsider what a tradition actually is.

UK#1, I rarely agree with you but as an HHS fan I am with you here. To my fellow HHS fans who are closer to the program than me, has HHS canceled the JV game and if so, why? HHS cannot use the timing of the game as an excuse - the varsity game was scheduled a long time ago. Not buying the injuries either. HHS is not a school that dresses 30 kids. They dress 100 kids (give or take) so they have enough bodies to easily field both varsity and JV teams. The JV kids (for both teams) practice just as much as the varsity kids and deserve to play games.

 

I just think it is weak when schools cancel games that they agreed to play initially. Unless there is some very compelling reason (contagious sickness in school, death of a player or coach, stuff like that), you should have to play the game IMO. I ripped CCH for canceling against HHS last year. To be consistent, I have to be harsh on HHS for canceling against Scott Co.

There's not one true Highlands fan who cares an iota about Elder. You been bashing Highlands, trying to give injury reports, and hanging on every word of your Elder Panther classmates.
