Who the hell would come to Mercer County if Pardue is fired?

I would love to see that happen. And Paul Raines is 10X better HEAD coach than pardue.

 

I disagree as much as one can.

This is why Mercer County will never have a successful football program and this is why Mercer County has the reputation that it has. I hope Pardue's job security isn't an issue with the administration. If it is then so be it. Maybe he'll come on back over to Boyle and find success like Bill Mason has and like Brian Britt will. Thank God Coach Adams didn't want any parts of Mercer County.

 

And for the record if Pardue does come back to Boyle County I am 100% in favor of Chris Mason staying the Offensive Coordinator for Boyle County. The offense has looked pretty good recently but I guess that has more to do with Chuck than with Coach Mason.

We have great programs with baseball and women's basketball. Men's and women's soccer have been successful. We have a great new men's basketball coach. I have not heard anyone in the community or parents with the opinion that Pardue needs to go. Please don't take one person posting on here as you opportunity to bash our school and community.

All I'm saying is that Boyle Co fired Pardue after his 3rd season with a record of 5-7. And I as a Mercer fan can't say anything after his 3rd season at Mercer Co with a record of 2-7. That's crazy.

 

Pardue got caught in a battle he couldn't win at Boyle County. Pardue joined a list of former Boyle County coaches who arguably were ran off by parents. Every school has coaches who were ran off by parents and Boyle County isn't an exception. Mercer County has a great coach in Chris Pardue. This season was a disappointment but injuries derailed this season beginning with Tanner Robins in the summer. Add in Layne Peavler, Drew Davis, Chase Moore, Dustin Baker, Joey DiGiovanni, Grayson Blevins.....who else is there? If you're going to be honest we all know Mercer County was the third place team in the district if they had been healthy. Getting rid of Pardue isn't the answer. The expectations you put on your coaches at Mercer County is insane.

Let boyle or bowling greens coach have a 16-17 record after three years and see what they say. But scene we are Mercer he is a great coach. Because he coached under a good coach or because he is a good guy. So a losing record is ok for mercer fans.

When do you people wake up and realize that sometimes it's not the coach, it's the kids? I have read several interviews with Coach Pardue and he says the kids play like they practice. If you practice poorly, you will play poorly. There is only so much a coach can do. He can't go out on the field and make the plays and execute properly.

I think the questions that should be asked are the following: 1) Has Mercer had enough time as a consolidated school to build a winning tradition? The answer would be no. (Ex. Bowling Green is IND like Harrodsburg was IND) and both very successful. Years ago when Marion County did this it has really never been consistently successful. 2) Does the Adm support football or do they just do it publicly to stay politically correct? The answer to this is critical, because if they do not have in school weightlifting then they are behind every school in their class that does, and this would be or not supported by administration. 3) The first Coach was successful because of the excitement generated by the consolidation + the great athletes that were at Harrodsburg, and yes Pardue is a good High School Coach. Sometimes you have to look at the external factors not just the record. It is kinda like saying those 10 starters on Defense and that great quarterback Joker Phillips recruited is why UK is Winning. It is a bigger situation than just a record.

I don't agree with this thread and some of the comments associated with this thread...a lot of times you (the Public) hold the coaches to a high standard but don't realize the demands and expectations that go along with the job. There is a lot of stress and sacrifice that comes with what we do as coaches....especially the head coaches. It makes a person a little frustrated when people throw around the topics about firing someone or they should held at a high standard...you truly don't "get it" until you walk in a head coaches shoes. So please when we respond (this not to one person but to the BGP nation) think about the people we are talking about...they do this for the LOVE of the game....NO ONE DOES IT FOR THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they did, they would get out quick...it takes a special person to be a head football coach at a high school or any level. Here is a thought...lets make topics on how can we help our team...not sure if I have seen one of those. My hats off to those who do the thankless job...I know I appreciate what you do. My hat is also off to Coach Pardue...he is a class act and an over qualified coach for Mercer...Mercer County would be blessed if they get to keep you. Just my 2 cents.

You can't compare Mercer County's program to Boyle County or Bowling Green's. For starters, Mercer County's football program has never been on that level. It takes time to build up to that. Marty Jaggers was on his way to building to that level. Bill Mason was given two years. Coach Rains left for what he felt were greener pastures. Now you want to give Pardue 2-3 years. Like Starks mentioned earlier, who the hell would want to come to Mercer County if Coach Pardue is let go?

 

In your opinion, how good should Mercer County have been this season with all of the injuries that they had? You realize that because of injuries they had to start the season with a kid at quarterback who has never played the position in his life? You understand that a potential backup for Drew Davis was injured during camp which brought on this dire situation at quarterback? I understand the frustration with having a losing record and the frustrations of this season but to put all of that on Coach pardue is misguided. Please tell me what Mercer County's record should have been with all of the injuries they had this year.

Depends on why the losing record is what it is. Anyone close to the program knows what was going on this year.

Keep tellling yourself that if it makes you feel better but thanks for the reminder of why other schools generall don't like your fans. I just think it is funny how anything Mercer related on this site is dominated by Boyle fans on here trying to hate. I don't know why Boyle fans are so worried about a school they think is so inferior. I rarely post anything on here unless it is a response to someone attacking our school or community and unfortunalty Boyle fans are the only school doing that.

You know as a fan of Boyle and former fan of Mercer. I lost all respect for the Mercer program last year with how their fans reacted. Ignorantly and arrogantly. I sat there filming in the press box and all you can see and hear is the non nonsportsmanship conduct from their fans. Ive only been cussed at once and that was at North Laruel. I never get cussed at by Danville fans. I never have been cussed at by Lexington Catholic fans. I have been given the bird for some reason when I was getting on the bus this year from a Catholic student but I have never seen such a display of disrespect as Mercer County fans gave us November 15th, 2013. It is one of them things where I personally will never forget not because it was memorable but rather because I've never had such hatered built up for some fan base. Im not saying you did any of that behavior but you still support it by your actions about beating us last year. You didn't see us singing and dancing and being unsporting when we beat you 51-0 but whenever you beat us by 1 point then its like your championship. I feel disrespected by Mercer since that day and I will continue to shun upon Mercer till they prove otherwise. I have nothing left to say about that night and I am done speaking about Mercer as they have nothing left in this season other than this friday when Dunbar beats them.
