He will not lose his job. He shouldn't. Mercer needs continuity in that spot. No doubt that it was a disappointing season but you can't pin that solely on Pardue. There were significant injuries throughout the year at key spots. The part that does bothers me was the team's attitude. I think that's a legitimate concern and something that needs to not repeat itself in the future.

I agree that Raines is a better HEAD coach.

I also might add, that when your job performance in the hands of 30-100 14-18 year olds, they can often times make coaches look embarrassing.

 

I don't know about others out there, but as a parent, my two kids have often times done embarrassing acts for me as a parent. Why we expect coaches to be exceptions to this rule when dealing with a whole heck of a lot more than we all have under our roofs is beyond me.

This is why Mercer County will never have a successful football program and this is why Mercer County has the reputation that it has. I hope Pardue's job security isn't an issue with the administration. If it is then so be it. Maybe he'll come on back over to Boyle and find success like Bill Mason has and like Brian Britt will. Thank God Coach Adams didn't want any parts of Mercer County.

 

And for the record if Pardue does come back to Boyle County I am 100% in favor of Chris Mason staying the Offensive Coordinator for Boyle County. The offense has looked pretty good recently but I guess that has more to do with Chuck than with Coach Mason.

Why does pay have to accompany proper ethical and professional behavior? If a coach takes a job, not matter if they are making a million dollars or no dollars, they should be expected to do that job to best of their ability. They knew the salary when they took the job, you don't get to blame poor performance on pay.

I'm not blaming poor perormance on pay. Way too many factors involved when looking at a team's success. The point I am trying to make is that people hold coaches(especially football coaches) to a higher standard than they do of teachers and principals. When a football player breaks a school rule or gets into some kind of trouble at school or out of school the football coach is blamed. When a player has bad grades the football coach is blamed. When the team loses the football coach is blamed. People on here are quick to say academics come first all of the time but let Coach Joe Blow lose half his team to injuries and the other half simply isn't as talented as mom and pop thought and they want the coach fired.

 

That's crap and that's a double standard. If coaches are going to held accountable for every single thing then they should be compensated for it. That's my opinion. Most coaches I know coach for the love of the game and coach because of a desire to teach kids the sport. If they wanted more money they'd move up the coaching ladder. Yes, Nick Saban gets paid very well and is expected to do his job to the best of his ability, but any high school coach should be expected to do his job to the best of his ability no matter what he gets paid. He took the job and agreed to the salary, you don't get to do that then when things don't turn out right blame it on salary.

Now, that I agree with. I just hate it when someone blames a poor performance on low pay. You took the job, you agreed to do it, when you suck at it you don't get to blame it on the fact you are not paid well enough to do good.

Nah, that's all me. I've never heard any coach blame performance on their pay. I just feel sorry for some of the stuff coaches have to go through and the double standard drives me nuts as well.

All I'm saying is that Boyle Co fired Pardue after his 3rd season with a record of 5-7. And I as a Mercer fan can't say anything after his 3rd season at Mercer Co with a record of 2-7. That's crazy.
