7th Region Final Update

Featured Replies

The Court of Appeals just ruled against Vic Montgomery, the ref who filed the court order holding up the game. However, the game is still in jeopardy tonight, because he immediately said he was taking it to the State Supreme Court and had already faxed the paperwork.

Tentatively, the game is on for 7:00pm, but who knows?

I just saw this on WTVQ Channel 36.

I'm still confused, but the kids shouldnt be the ones to suffer hear

What I don't understand is why would a person go through all of this just to call a basketball game? Doesn't he realize the abuse he's going to have to endure if he wins?

This guy sounds like a freakin idiot. And if he's truely not an idiot, people like me and people thoughout the state are going to think he is now no matter what .

You make a good point. He'll have a bulls-eye on his striped shirt the rest of his career, if he has one.

Sounds like bullheadedness and poor legal advice.

The very definition of thinking you are bigger than the game.

Let it go...

I believe he thinks he's doing the right thing but it's the kids who are suffering. It's a shame. Let it go for now, file a complaint or lawsuit after the game if you are that intent on proving your point. This is not the way, the school are not the only ones hurt. These actions hurt the game of basketball as a whole in the state of Kentucky because it will make national news in some form or another. This isn't the way.

Every coach in the 6th and 7th region should scratch him for next year!

I doubt that will happen but if it does we would welcome him in the 5th. He is a very good high school official.

He may be a good official but to do this to the kids involved is very selfish. We teach kids team work and that no one individual is bigger than the game of basketball. Now we have an official that is making himself bigger than the game. To me a good official is the one you don't even know is on the floor. This guy is definitely not doing that. I just think he is showing poor taste and professionalism.

HE must be the kind of ref that thinks that people in the stands paid their five bucks to see him...Those are the refs that ruin high school basketball

A very selfish act by this ref, the kids are the real victims here.

I think the game is on. KHSAA changed their website to reflect that the game is being played. I heard the KY Supreme Court refused to hear the case.
