I have read the threads about Dave Wirth at Covington Catholic, but does anyone think a change needs to come to Holy Cross? Going 6-24 since winning the State Title in 2011 and only defeating Bishop Brossart in the past 2 years makes me think something needs to change. We see them in the first round of the playoffs against our District champs.

Just love these kinds of questions. This IS NOT college or professional football. These are not highly paid, high profile coaches or jobs for that matter. Parents, fans, hangers-on, whatever, who believe that a coaching change is suddenly going to bring out major changes in participation, or talent, or size are absolutely fooling themselves. Unless a coach has done something heinous, or unethical, what do you expect to happen by changing coaches? Perhaps that wasn't your purpose for asking the original question, but I somehow think it was. The majority of small schools especially are cyclical at best in terms of talent. There certainly are anomalies (see Beechwood, Mayfield, etc.) but even places like Pikeville and Williamsburg, who are currently having success, have seen many down years or periods regardless of the coach. I say support the program, support the guy who has been there and been committed for years and look beyond wins and losses to what the coach has contributed to the school and the players. THAT is what a coach is about.

Holy Cross had to drop its MS team this year because of numbers. Its all an enrollment issue, does that get blamed on a Coach?

The improvement in Scott's program funnels a few kids away from HC now, as it has become a decent football option. Their schedule the last two years has also killed them. Scott, Conner, SK and Campbell County are all teams that Holy Cross will rarely ever have a chance to compete with.

Bruce Kozerski is, first of all, a very good and respected math teacher at Holy Cross High School. He also happens to be the head football coach.

I believe a lot of factors are to blame for the tailspin with the football record. The economy wasn't great so to spend $6000/yr on tuition wasn't feasible for many people. For the families that can afford the tuition, the resurgence of CovCath took a lot of the Catholic talent away from the other parochial schools with their newer facilities and success in many areas. Just take a look at NCC and Brossart right now. Its not just the football team that has suffered. All of their sports teams are down right now. Im sure that the sports teams will eventually get better, but they are just in a down cycle. In my opinion only, I don't think the coaches or football coach is what is needing to be replaced. I would take a good look at the administration if I were going to make changes. They are the first line of people who can attract prospective students to the school

Bruce is a class act, does so much that is not seen by many.

But I thought "scheduling up" was the only way for small schools to get better? To answer your real question, no. Coach Koz obviously has a wealth of experience through the highest levels of the sport. He proved he can win at the peak level in high school, it's sad that any would question his efforts. To win you need talent, evidently Holy Cross is seriously lacking in talent right now.

Putting together a tough schedule is one thing. But Holy Cross's schedule is brutal. And I know NCC's is tougher, but NCC has a long tradition that helps keep the talent flowing. Holy Cross aside from one state title, doesn't have that tradition and getting pounded by two schools in your back yard (Scott and SK) doesn't exactly invite the local talent. Rather than scheduling 5 and 6a teams, they could back off a little and play some schools at or slightly above their enrollment. They need wins right now to keep the fan base energized and to start attracting talent again.

Something to think about their best player is only a Sophomore.

OK, Enrollment question then. Are they on the same fence as Brossart? Would they jump down to 1A?
