Some grass fields are always bad this time of year. Conner's is the same way.

 

I get that, and with all the rain we've had recently, it's tough for a grass field to hold up. Last year at this time Grants field was in pretty good condition.

Was at this game.. sat and observed Grant fans.(those who didnt leave after the band performed)When it went from being tied at 20 midway through THE 4th QTR to 32-20, there was no emotion..it was like they knew it was going to happen. Feel sorry for the kids but the whole program from the high school on down is an EXERCISE IN FUTILITY.

Looks like a Conner win against Scott next week sends the district to a three way tie. No way Conner wins the tie breaker, so no chance they win the district.

 

But, I guess the three-way could give Cooper the district title. Haven't done the math, and South may be locked in regardless. But, if there is a three way tie breaker and Cooper is the champion, Conner would host a playoff game. Lot's to shake out in the district still.

 

My guess, Scott beats Conner and we finish:

Conner.

 

But we'll see. I have no comment on the quality of football in this district.

I'm not so sure Scott will beat Conner. Conner has been playing some pretty good football their last few games. Scott got blown out by Cooper, Conner played Cooper tough. Conner beat South Oldham. Scott lost to South Oldham and from the game thread the only thing I saw was Scott and S.O. both had one TD called back due to penalties. The terrible field conditions at Grant County last night I'm sure hurt both teams. We don't know how much Conner could have won by on a field in good shape. I see the more likely scenario being South Oldham, Cooper, Conner being 3-1 and Scott 2-2. With the three 3-1 teams all having beat each other. I have no idea who gets district title out of that, the tie breaking rules all make my head hurt. lol

All three teams have really tough final games, and probable losses. Cooper plays Dixie, South plays an undefeated Bullit Central, and Conner plays Cov Cath. I think all 3 teams lose, but South has the best chance of winning. Conners only win will be against Holy Cross, who will likely end up with just one win. They are pretty much locked in as the three if they beat Scott. South has the advantage in the tiebreaker over Cooper as well in the case that both South and Cooper win, or if they both lose their final game. The only way Cooper can win the district in a three way tie, is if South Oldham loses their final game, and Cooper beats Dixie. If Scott beats Conner, Cooper wins, as they own the head to head versus South, South gets the two, Scott the Three. This is all assuming Cooper takes care of business against Grant.

Scott's defense played pretty well last night, and came up with big stops with their backs against the wall a few times. The score last night really could have been as bad as it was against Cooper had Scott's D not shown up. I know Defense hasn't been a strength for Conner, but they've played better as of late. I think this game is a toss up.

Yes, I believe Cooper is no worse than a 2 if they beat Grant. Cooper needs Scott to beat Conner in order to have a chance to win the district, and then will likely need South to lose their final game AND beat Dixie in order to win the District. Pretty tall order. If Grant beats Cooper, then I'll leave it to the really smart people to figure things out.

Yep, I knew that, but got confused typing. It's going to be very tough for Cooper to win the district. They really needed Scott to win last night.

The offense is fine, and really does fit their talent and personnel. They don't have the players to run the spread, or a more passing heavy scheme. Aside from the Cooper game this year, they've been in every district game the last two years. They just haven't learned to win yet. They always seem to make a few little mistakes or miss opportunities. While talent is better, it's still not as deep as the other top schools in the area. This is still basically a brand new program. They still need that first big win to get the monkey off their back.

As far as I know they are. I know there were some issues for next year, and they were petitioning to either move up to 6A or play as an independent as their new district in 5A will be them, Highlands, Cov Cath, and Dixie.
