The ad is in poor taste and is fearmongering politics at its worst.

 

But as for who's calling the shots in Washington, I recall every government department and agency feeling the pain when House Republicans mandated across the board cuts in every department in order to end the shutdown. Democrats aren't asking to cut NIH funding, Republicans are. They've been after the NIH for years among other departments they think are doing "useless research". Cut in one area then money comes over from another.

 

Again... no defending this ad; it's in really bad taste, but if cuts were made, they definitely came from one side of the aisle and not the other.

Yep. I am. Moved from my dream life in Louisville to the middle of nowhere KY so I could.

 

Which quite frankly is the way it should be: before forcing taxpayers to provide support, family members should make sacrifices and do so themselves. Props to you for doing the right thing.

The sequester was Obama's idea, not the Republicans'.
