nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 I'm going into severe weather alert mode for today. The risk for severe thunderstorms has increase especially for Western Ky. for later today. A MDT risk indicates a potential for a greater concentration of severe thunderstorms than the slight risk, and in most situations, the storms and associated severe weather are more intense. Here is our storm tracking center. http://bluegrasspreps.com/bluegrasspreps-coms-break/severe-weather-tracker-279174.html
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 As of now it looks like these storms will hit Kentucky later this evening and transverse to central/eastern Ky overnight into Tuesday.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Getting ready to leave for work. As this situation develops I'll check back when time permits it with updates.
gold sunrise Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Getting ready to leave for work. As this situation develops I'll check back when time permits it with updates. Thanks so much for all the work you do on the weather for us!!!!!
rockmom Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 It's been pouring down rain here since about 2am CST and there's a lot of pooling already. No bad storms yet, just a steady, heavy rain.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 The severe storms shouldn't be in the Louisville area until around midnight tonight. This is just the first round.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Just a quick check in. I see a mesoscale discussion has been issued for WKY for a severe thunderstorm watch. I haven't had a chance to read it but I will soon. This usually means a watch maybe issued soon.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 A severe weather watch maybe issued for WKY later this morning or this afternoon. There is a greater potential for surface heating because of the breaks in the clouds. This means more destabilization of the atmosphere. This could mean supercell storm development before the main line reaches WKY. Also there is a possibility that this possible watch area could be extended eastward. I'll be back as soon as I can when I get new info.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 A Tornado Watch has just been issued for parts of WKY until 7 pm CDT.
rockmom Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Not technically WKY here, but it's darkening up and the winds have picked up considerably.
nWo Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 This is just the preliminary round. The main line is not supposed to be in the Louisville area until around midnight.
TheDeuce Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Sun has been out for a couple hours in Louisville.
