Biggest win in program history for Magoffin County and the inside track now to the District 7 Championship

 

For Breathitt this has to be the low point of the program over the past 20 years or so. Breathitt is a program desperately needing to rebuild.

Wow, even though I knew Breathitt was down, I did not expect them to lose to Magoffin on the river bank.

Magoffin is better than you think. This is a HUGE win for our program. :thumb:

I'm really proud of Magoffin and I know they are improved. Still, even with the direction both programs are going, I thought it would be a very tall task for them to win in Jackson. They stepped it up and took care of business.

I wonder when Breathitt Count last had a District Loss in Jackson?

Middlesboro did win at Breathitt County in 2006, 57-42.

I'll have to look when I get home, but I can't recall Breathitt losing more than a handful of district games since the mid-90s.

This is arguably Magoffin County's biggest win in school history. IF I'm not mistaken this is probably Magoffin County's first win against Breathitt.

Breathitt has some crippling issues in place right now.

 

The State took over the school board a couple years back after politics and corruption put the school system in danger. When that happened big changes occurred. Budget became tight. Holcomb took off for Letcher Central. The Feeder System is practically non-existent now. Numbers are down. Add on top of that the fact Breathitt's talent pool simply is down the past two years after one of their better runs of the decade and it is a recipe for disaster.

 

Breathitt being good is great for EKY Football...but right now I don't see Breathitt returning to form on the immediate horizon.
