Can you think of a KY school that has traveled substantial distance to play a football game? Usually the teams have come to KY.

I guess distance is relative, some teams have to travel three or four hours for playoff games.

 

But, Trinity has traveled to: Ensworth Tennessee, and Indianapolis for games this year. They have traveled to Indiana and Tennessee quite a bit over the last several years.

Kudos to the Frankfort community for emptying their pockets.

As agreed not sure how many Kentucky football teams (NOT EVEN 5A-6A) that travel this far. Only farthest I've known is maybe Ohio or Tennesse which is maybe a 4-5 hour drive.

It just seems to me that KY HS football teams historically haven't traveled long distances for games. As you pointed out there are a few but those are still only a few hours from Louisville.

 

I did find this statement in the KHSAA rule book. It might explain why they can't travel a more than a few hours unless they are off school like Frankfort.

a) Playing During School Hours

School Time shall not be lost for travel to or from, or participation

in, any regular season interscholastic athletic contest.

 

Maybe this is where I got a certain distance in my head!

Don't get me wrong here. I'm jealous of the kids from Frankfort!!! This is a trip of a lifetime for any high school player. It was like the stars and planets had to align but they got it done.

 

Hope they do well and come home with a win.

Who knows the FBA staff has been awesome to deal with. Both teams will get together on Thursday for a pregame meal and pool party. Then the panthers will attend the schools pep rally. Exchange signed footballs and gifts.

 

Today the FBA staff provided the panthers with a gift bag.

 

Kids have really enjoyed the trip and haven't even set foot on the beach! I will share as the week unfolds.

WOW! Sounds like Frankfort struck gold when they found this Florida team to play, rolling out the red carpet and all of the other activities, it's something these kids will never forget!

 

As far as the distance, I wonder if the KHSAA would allow it when a school is in session if tutors went along as well. Just a thought. But I am guessing the expense for an entire football team and equipment just scares most teams away from it. I wish more teams were able to do this.

Really? That is very interesting Coach. That is a true respected opponet. Do you think FBA has any D-1 Talent? (I Know you are on the beach soaking the sun up Coach and loving it!).
