Cooper 42 Scott 7

Featured Replies

Scott beat themselves bad snaps ,ridiculous offsides calls and a soft secondary cost them big! Good Job to Cooper they came out confident after last week. And got it done

Scott didn't play well, and didn't get many breaks. Sometimes that happens. But Cooper took advantage of all the mistakes. You play bad against a good team and you get throttled. Scott's better than this, and hopefully they'll forget about tonight quickly and move on. Every game the rest of the way is winnable. But they have to play better.

Sorry but I have to disagree. Scott didn't beat themselves. All those bad snaps people are talking about, well

It just wasn't the case. Only 2 bad snaps that got away from the QB all night 2 is all.

Scott fumbled twice that the refs didn't call also, so don't say Scott beat themselves. Cooper also had 14 pts taken off the board and still won by 5 TDs. Scott didn't beat themselves, cooper beat them. Very first offensive play of the game Cordell-Armstrong ran 70 yds for a TD and his 3rd carry of the night was 40 yd td so he had over 100 yds rushing after just 3 touches. Don't blame Scott's offense when their defense was the part of the team that couldn't stop Cooper no matter what they did. Cooper could

Have thrown all day but didn't. If they did they could have put up even more yards because the middle

Was wide open all night.

Sorry but Scott didn't beat themselves. Only 2 bad snaps does not have anything to do with giving up 42 pts.

I think Scott has a great chNce as I said earlier to still get a high seed.

Remember Cooper had their bad game last week. This week was Scott's. Now if Scott can come

Back from it next week like cooper did this week they will

Be fine.

Didn't see Scott get screwed on any penalties, Cooper was victim of a few bad spots and should have had two fumble recoveries that weren't called. Cooper was hungrier, defense was firing on all cylinders and TCA got the blocks he needed and the offense was working well together.

Yes only two snaps were fumbled. But there were at least another 8 or 9 that the QB had to jump for, that disrupted the timing of the plays, slowing the backs down and lead directly to missed holes and losses in the backfield. I'm not sure how you could miss that. That's not to say that those snaps might have been caused by Cooper putting pressure on the center. That's a basic premise and there's really no excuse for the snaps not to be perfect. And it's not the first time we've seen more than a few bad snaps. But they were able to get away with it against the teams they played. And yes, Scott's defense didn't play well, but they had their backs stuck on their side of the field most of the game, and being on the field most of the first half because the offense couldn't put anything together. Cooper was the better team in all facets of the game, and were a lot more explosive than I expected. Scott's D did get a couple stops in the first half after giving up the two big runs, and if their offense could have put some drives together they could have stayed in the game.

I still think Scott can play with Cooper. But it certainly didn't happen tonight.

I didn't miss the high snaps at all. If you've seen much HS football any team that aha shotgun will always have snaps like that throughout the game. Shoot Cooper last year seemed like 70% of their snaps were like that.

They didn't disrupt the offense, the QB did fine job keeping the flow. If it did disrupt the offense you would have seen some

Missed exchanges with the RB's and you never did.

I agree. Scott is much better than they showed tonight. I've been concerned about the Defense, especially in the passing game, and that's going to have to get better. Offensively, they've had issues with snaps all year. That has to get fixed, or they have zero chance against good teams.

They have a bye next week, then get Grant County at home, before heading down to play at South Oldham. Just forget about this one, and they have two weeks to fix some issues. These kids are good, the coaching staff is good and the season is far from over. Getting a 2 seed is really important, and is certainly within reach.

I agree.

All I can say is wow!!! Come on Eagles you are better than that. :puke:

It was total domination. There wasn't one aspect of the game that Scott was better than Cooper at. The one dimension middle school offense won't get it done against good teams. Scott's defense was really bad and the Oline underwelmed. I believe the Cooper back had over 1000 yard in the first 2 minutes, well not really a 1000 but he did have over 100 in the first two minutes of the game.

Not to beat a dead horse so to speak but beef up the non district schedule and Scott is better prepared for tonight. Hadn't faced adversity and they crumbled

Could not agree more. Scott will continue to get what they get in district play until they change that.

This had nothing to do with the scheme. It had everything to do with the execution. They executed poorly. I know everyone wants to see them pass more, but honestly, this team is built to run the football. That's where their talent lies, so they go with what they do best, and try to do it really well. The offense might not be conventional, but it fits the talent and personnel they have. This team (and last years team) lack an outside threat and true receivers that can get separation. Does the offense limit the team??? Sure. It makes it tough to play from behind. They need to score early, and play good defense. 3rd and long is tough. But really that's true about almost every high school football team.

Did we maybe get too excited about this team? Maybe. But they played one bad game, against a good, solid team. I don't think anyone had them going undefeated when the season started. I thought 6-4 or 7-3 was a reachable goal, and really it still is. And that still makes the season a success, as I think it would be the first ever back to back winning seasons is the 30 year history of the program. No reason to panic, jump off the wagon, or say its time to change the system. This team is right where most expected them to be. This group of kids have come a long way, and the coaches have done a great job. This group is really experiencing success for the first at any level, and the improvement they've made since middle school (the junior and senior class won 3 games combined) is remarkable.

I stayed out of the slightly insane prediction thread all week, because I couldn't say what Scott was capable of against another 5A team and Cooper was just hit by a freight train last week. At the 10:29 mark in the first quarter, I thought we were in for a barn-burner - Jags TD off the first play from scrimmage and Eagles answer likewise after 2 or 3 snaps - WOW!!

Then the Jags scored again quickly and their D stepped up nicely against the Eagles heralded run game. Cooper's D is smallish and not terribly quick, but pretty disruptive and they move to the ball like a swarm of bees or something. I think Prickett was a true baller last night - passes on target, nice runs and scrambles - he just looked comfortable and competent and more confident. TCA had better blocking up the middle than in weeks past. Cooper spread the ball out well and ran a good mix of run/pass with success. It was a good win for the Jags, much needed.

Hope both teams finish strong this season with no more injuries!!

Cooper is a pretty good 5A team. They do a lot of things well.

The Jags have their strengths and believe it or not, would be even better on D if one lineman, one LB and one DB were playing instead of injured. I think our offense is performing as well as they can with the size/speed we have. We can be a litte too one-dimensional at times.

I believe (*hope*) both Cooper and Scott can beat Conner, S Oldham and Grant Co. this year so I'm sure we'll meet your Eagles again soon enough!
