capt278 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 With all the negative police stories posted, I thought it would be good to post a positive one. One of the thousands that never get noticed. Pittsburgh Police Detective Adopts Two Boys In Need Of A Home « CBS Pittsburgh
woodsrider Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Nice story, thanks for posting. There's thousands just like it and none of them get enough attention.
00Rocket28 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 1 response...awesome :lol2:. Somehow it was less than I predicted
woodsrider Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Really expected a post from AJG by now. Must have missed this cop thread.
TheDeuce Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 1 response...awesome :lol2:. Somehow it was less than I predicted Very few positive stories get more responses than a good controversial one, so let's not act like a story about a cop is any different than a story that isn't...

Just like no one has even posted about the officer in Ferguson getting shot last night.

Just like no one has even posted about the officer in Ferguson getting shot last night. A police officer yelling at someone on the side of the road is a bigger story here than one getting shot and injured...or even murdered. I understand part of it is the love for debate...Some of it is just some people here love to hate the police.

JokersWild24 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I'd like to add: it's also not a controversial issue. The move here is very benevolent, and while people often don't get enough credit for doing the right things, let's be realistic: people come to the CI forum to argue and debate. No one is going to have any qualms at all with this story, thus there are fewer comments.

The Scribe Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It's just the what our society has become. TV shows that spark controversy grew to high ratings in the 1990s and 2000s. Then, about a decade ago, TV started showing uplifting shows like Home Makeover, Undercover Boss, etc. Guess what? Those shows fizzled out as did society's need to watch feel-good TV. The drama-filled shows are still on the air. You never see the story of Clara Edwards winning the pickle competition at the county fair for 12 straight years leading off a newscast. It's the two-car wreck, the house fire, or the school teacher indicted for sending explicit texts to a student. Sex and violence sells. It's the world we live in. I've come to accept it even though I don't like it. Teachers will tell you. There are dozens of stories every day about teachers who go above and beyond for their student or community but all it takes is one Chester the Molestor story involving a school employee to undo it all. Police officers are the same way. Cops adopting homeless kids, finishing a pizza delivery when the driver wrecks, finding an elderly woman fallen in their backyard, delivering babies on the freeway are the stories that end a newscast. Not lead one. It's just how our society is
TheDeuce Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Some of it is just some people here love to hate the police. The "hate" that some people have for police is more than justified, whether you agree with it or not.
