nkypete Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Bengal Season ticket holders have received emails advertising the new "Free Wi-Fi" at Paul Brown Stadium. This is meant to help the "fan experience" during games. We have also been given access to NFL RedZone so that we can watch replays throughout the league. What has been your experience with this feature? I can tell you that mine has been non-existent. I am in section 203 and yesterday I had a signal for about one second. Others around me had the same issue.
ColonelCrazy Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I didn't go to either one of the first two games but I have heard that it is working, at least for some people.
Bengal Maniac Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I am in Section 144 and it has worked great both preseason and regular season games.
nkypete Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 There are supposed to be "Wi-Fi coaches" around to help. They obviously were hiding from the convertible club sections.
Lawnboy13 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!! Mike Brown giving the fans something for FREE.
frankdracman23 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 The Bengals ticket guy was on WLW last week saying the Free Wi-Fi is working fantastically and all the fans love it.

hja1224 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I remember seeing something from their Twitter on Sunday saying if you were having issues to Tweet them your section and seat number???
nkypete Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 I called the Bengals office about it today. "It is a 'work in progress'," they say. Issues they have are - the large number of fans accessing the network, the number of fans with old smartphones (non-LTE), and a few fans who "tether" to their own personal network during the game. The guy seemed nice about it and apologized that I have not been able to connect. He was glad I called (feedback is the only way they know of problems). Apparently, the 49ers are having the exact same problem with their new stadium (even though they advertise the ability to have 100% connectivity).
theguru Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 The wifi has not worked much at all for me. I sit in the third level, in the southeast part of the stadium. When I walk in my phone immediately connects with the free wifi, when I finish walking steps or ramps or whatever to get to my seats it works for a little bit as the game starts (both home games now) and then it kicks me off and I can't connect. The only good is it takes enough pressure off Verizon that my Verizon connection works much better than past years. Still, Free Wi-Fi" at Paul Brown Stadium has been almost a complete failure for me.
theguru Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 For the record, I just got off the phone for the Bengals and gave them as much detail as possible. They were EXTREMELY nice and gave me the company line that they are working on it but it seemed genuine.

What exactly do you want to use your phone for while at the Paul Brown Stadium? Is it just to be able to text and receive calls or do you do a lot of surfing on the internet in between commercial breaks?

A little bit of texting with fellow Bengals fans and/or NFL Fans and I like to be able to look up information about anything NFL related that enhances my experience at the game. When you compare watching at home, to at the game, you realize how much TV can enrich your viewing experience. When you are at the game you are often left to your own devices to figure everything out and for that you need high speed Net access.

A good example of using the Wi-Fi would be to post to BGP using Forum Runner without dipping into my data plan.
