knnal Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 (AP)--Louisville has beaten out Houston and Milwaukee for the right to play host to the McDonald's All-America high school basketball games next year. The games will be televised nationally on E-S-P-N in addition to the slam-dunk and three-point contests earlier in the week. McDonald's will choose 24 boys and 24 girls nationwide to participate in the games. The games will be played in late March at Freedom Hall. Its the first time the McDonalds contests have been played in Kentucky. Notable players in the class of 2007 include top prospect O.J. Mayo and Duke recruit Nolan Smith, son of the late University of Louisville player Derek Smith.

hopper24 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Will have to get to that one. Don't particularly like the style of play in the game but,it's nice to see that much talent together. Usually see a few future NBAers in the mix. I still like it much better when you see the NBAers play in the SWEET SIXTEEN in Rupp!:thumb:

MBWC41 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Dont forget Oak Hill's Michael Beasly; got to watch him play against NCH in Cincinnatti a couple weekends ago. He is better then Walker, IMO. But why he committed to Charrlotte, no one will ever know.

Big Game Player Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 How do you get tickets to this early or do you have to be able to dunk to get in???
DrDunc33 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 He is going there because he is only going to be there for one year. He has already stated that.He could play anywhere for just one year. Can't he? Also, he committed early, so there must be some connection to Charlotte. I saw him play in the Hoopfest at Marshall County, KY this year. He is an unbelievable athlete, but his attitude is horrible. He couldn't keep his mouth shut the whole game. He mouthed at the refs, he mouthed at the other team, he mouthed at his own teammates, he mouthed at the fans, he was still mouthing as he walked off the court after the game. He seemed like a "prima donna" to me. Oh well, he is a kid and maybe that was just an isolated incident, but I doubt it.

The Professor Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I read in one news report that one of the reasons Louisville was selected was for it's "Southern hospitality", which should answer the question in another thread "Are you a Southerner"? The rest of the nation sees Louisville and the rest of the state as southern.
dawgs83 Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 I just hope it don't hurt the Derby Classic. While the McDonald's game will have better players, the Derby Classic always focuses on bringing in UK, UL, and IU recruits. I would rather go watch them play.
