Another rivalry game in the Capital City this week, Western Hills Wolverines travel downtown to take on the Frankfort High Panthers. The series was renewed in 2003. Over the course of the 11 years the Panthers are leading the series in wins with a 9-2 advantage.

Western Hills is 2-1 on the season and coming off a big win over 5A West Jessamine. The Wolverines this season is scoring an average of 36 points per game, while their opponents have scored an average of 23 points per game. Western Hills is much improved from last season. They are being led by Senior RB Nick Lockett. Lockett leads the team in rushing and receiving.

Frankfort High enters this game with a loss to cross town rival Franklin Co. 22-13. The Panthers are 2-1 on the season and looking to try and bounce back in their home opener against the Wolverines. The Panthers are scoring an average 29 points per game and their opponents are scoring an average of 18 points per game. Frankfort is being led by Senior RB/WR Jalen Washington who also leads his team in rushing and receiving.

The question for the Panthers this week will they be able to bounce back from tough loss?

Western Hills wants to know if they can continue the momentum and get another road win?

Who wins this battle this season?

I don't think Hills has enough on offense to beat Frankfort High! I was real impressed with Frankfort Highs defense against FC. I will go with the Panthers in this rivalry game.

Panthers break out the new orange uniforms...first home game..fhs by a lot. Probably 35-7

Panthers win.

So this is Frankfort's first home game of the year, just like Beechwood. I would have guessed Beechwood was the only school in the state with no home game yet.

Based on the Franklin County score versus Western Hills, this should be no contest with the Panthers putting on a nice show for the home fans.

Panthers are banged up and will be without several starters. Already thin in spots and now even thinner. There will be a few guys playing with little experience on Friday.

Panthers by 21.

This might help the Panthers build confidence later in the season for some young players to step up during playoff time. But i feel Frankfort is too talented and hungry from a 9 point loss to a team they knew they could beat. Panther's come out with first hit in the chin Friday Night. Look for Panthers to be up by 20+ at halftime, maybe 30-0. I'm looking at a 47-6 victory.
