NFL Player Arrest Tracker

Can someone explain to me how Goodell or the NFL in general is to blame for this? Yes, they have to deal with it but these are grown men acting like idiots. You can make the punishments stiffer but they will most likely only curb the repeat offenders.

This has to be addressed by the players and the union first. Even then it's not going to change much.

I tend to agree with you.

However, what do you think would happen if they adopted more of a zero tolerance policy on certain crimes? Any conviction of a violent offense, and you're automatically booted from the league. More than one DUI, booted from the league.

Jerome Simpson was cited for marijuana possession.

I think there are about 1800 people in the NFL. So that averages out to about 2.88% of players are arrested each season.

I wonder if any other comparable sized work force has had 730 arrest in a 14 year period.

Northern Kentucky University for example has around 2000 employees, how many of those have been arrested over the past 14 years?

Ford Truck plant in Louisville has around 4000 employees, to be at the scale of the NFL they would have to have over 1500 arrest over the last 14 years.

UPS (Louisville) has over 6000 employees, NFL levels would mean that they would have had close to 2500 arrest over the past 14 years

WHY DO THESE Employers not see the levelof poor behavior from their employees the NFL does? Because everyone working there can EASILY be replaced.

You can't easily replace a great NFL player. NFL athletes possess an athletic prowess found in less than 1% of the population. NFL quality RB's and LB's don't grow on trees...as long as the demand is higher than the supply poor behavior will continue to be accepted by the owners, league and fans.

It seems the only players who are being good are free agents lol

The NFL is the only employer I know of where having a criminal record is no barrier to employment!

BGP is another one. Theguru doesn't care what your criminal background is.

You mean the whole trafficking deal? Because that's listed in the link.

No July 3rd of this year. He's already suspended 3 games for prior DUI

Ahh...indeed. Yeah, I didn't search by player to find that trafficking arrest. Found him while I had the chart sorted by team.

Man, all three arrests have undetermined resolution listed for him. That's a lot of crap to have hanging out in the breeze while the NFL just waits for a legal determination before their ruling.

I tend to agree with you.

I actually like that. Pretty sure if I was convicted of a violent felony I wouldn't still have my job. And we as a country go way too easy on DUI offenses.

Exactly. There are plenty of criminal offenses that are all-in-all unrelated to how a person performs in the medical or legal world that will easily get them stripped of their license to practice or disbarred. I have no problem at all with something like that being instituted by the NFL.

730 arrests in give-or-take 14 years. That means just over 52 arrests a year, on average, or about 1 arrest a week for the past 14 years.

Since I first tallied up the number of charges on the list on September 17th, they've updated it. Looks like they've added in some past charges that they initially missed when they compiled their list, and they've added in 5 more arrests from the month of October. Nothing new showing from November as of yet.

The current tally for NFL player arrests since January 24, 2000: 767
