8 losing seasons in 100 years.

 

All kinds of crazy stuff happened that year.

Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Yankees in the WS.

Georgia Tech stopped UK's 130-game home winning streak.

Rosa Parks refused to sit at the back of the bus.

Jim Henson created Kermit the Frog.

Ray Kroc opened the first McDonald's.

Kevin Costner and mcpapa were born (Is it mere coincidence that the two have never been seen together in public? You decide.)

Poor little Birds. Man, the process and work they have to put in to transforming into state champs. I do feel sorry for them tonight to have to get on the field with SK. Hopefully the loss tonight doesn't crush their spirits.

If anybody wants to watch the game with me I will be the fat guy eating cake and drinking blue Kool-Aid!

 

Do you have someone playing? I don't have time for the freshman games. I have to take my son to his AAU tryouts. I'll catch this class in 4 years at the state game.

And I can somewhat understand how a state championship might seem meaningless to someone who has never been there before. To be honest, I feel bad for those who don't get to experience it, because it sure was special the three times I went. So I get where your jealousy is coming from, I really do. But while you are trying to grasp for any thread of relevancy, just remember who is, and likely will be for a long, long time, the real king of NKY football. And because Highlands is the real king of NKY football, I will go ahead and predict a win tonight by the State Champs In Training.

 

Maybe that's a new post season scheme add-on...

A silver bracket for all those teams knocked out in the first round. SK could even benefit from that.:lol:

Man, you must be a young guy. Because you don't know too much about history. Camp County, Boone and Dixie used to all be formidable 6A teams...as well as Newport, NCC, Lloyd, Holmes, Cov Cath being 3A good teams (in a 4A classification), and guess what...HHS still thrived. And I hope you aren't saying NKY 6A is good now, because IMO, it's as bad as it's ever been. We have one mediocre to decent team...and yes, that's SK. Other than that, it's very weak. Yes, some of them are on the way back up, but by no means are they considered strong teams. If SK is the best of the rest, then that's not saying much. Don't have to look far to see that. Playoffs tell us that every year and I'm not trying to be mean there. Its fact.

 

I agree! Let's take our football and go home! Wait, we're 3-0. Let's at least wait til Cov Cath puts a running clock on us!!! It's funny when the gap closes and HHS comes back a little closer to the pack...now they suck! It's truly hilarious how some people view things!

And teams can get better without another team falling off, right?...hence closing the gap. Your first example says nothing about Cov Cath, right? And a team closing the gap doesn't always mean they are within striking distance, right? Closing the gap could mean that instead of losing by 50, they are now losing by 35. That team still sucks, right? But they are closing the gap, right?

The only NKY 6A team Highlands has played is Campbell County. Highlands beat Campbell County by 7. By your post, the only NKY 6A team that is mediocre/decent is SK. Is 1 TD striking distance?

Were you at the game? I was. Was never worried and HHS played awful!! You can call it striking distance if you want. But nothing against my CC friends, but that game was also a few less mistakes from a possible running clock. A lot of factors played into that game that have been fixed over the last couple games. So again, is Campbell co getting better and closing the gap...yes! But are they still mediocre in 6a in KY...yes.

 

You're the one bringing up specific teams and games. You can't look at one game or one outcome...especially if you weren't there.

Campbell gave up a safety, turned the ball over and gave Highlands the ball at the 40 yardline 4 times in the 1st quarter. Highlands took advantage and scored 3 times in the 1st quarter off of those short fields. The next 3 quarters Campbell County shut out Highlands and scored 16 points of their own. The final score was a 7 point difference and it was not because Highlands played bad. If Campbell (NKY 6A rep in this case) is mediocre, then so is Highlands. I tend to believe that neither team is mediocre, but only time will tell.

Well then you saw all the penalties on the offensive line (that was their first varsity start and haven't had them since) and all the overthrows of the WIDE OPEN receivers that also has not happened since.

 

I'm not trying to take anything away from them. But using your logic and one game, I assume you feel Cov Cath will blow HHS out beacause they destroyed 6a Dixie and that HHS is only 2td's better than NCC. Because 6a camp co only beat a struggling 2a team by ten. So if you use the one game logic, NCC is also within striking distance, right? Which in turn means SK would blow HHS out of the stadium. Now I know how UKFan thinks!

Let me ask you this. What was the play right before the safety. Oh, it was a fumble on the 1 yard line. So essentially they really could have been happy with only a safety. Also, when did that second TD come and what kind of play was that. What was the situation. Down and yes to go? Third, watching the game, did you ever feel CC was going to win? And if you watched it how many crucial penalties were called on the brand new offensive live. Some of which had never played offensive line for HHS. And how many drops and over and under throws were there. All that doesn't typically happen with HHS teams and that is typically a huge advantage they have on teams. Guess what, that is fixed now. It was broke in the first game of the season!

 

Again, I agree CC played well, but you're not going to convince me that if they played again they would be within 3-4 Tds. I'm sorry to say it, but it's true. So to look at one game and try to compare really doesn't do much for the big pic and my point.

At the end of the day...Where do you place Camp Co in 6a and overall in the state. Then where do you place HHS on the same grading scale?

Above avg/top ten in the state.
