Let me ask you this. What was the play right before the safety. Oh, it was a fumble on the 1 yard line. So essentially they really could have been happy with only a safety. Also, when did that second TD come and what kind of play was that. What was the situation. Down and yes to go? Third, watching the game, did you ever feel CC was going to win? And if you watched it how many crucial penalties were called on the brand new offensive live. Some of which had never played offensive line for HHS. And how many drops and over and under throws were there. All that doesn't typically happen with HHS teams and that is typically a huge advantage they have on teams. Guess what, that is fixed now. It was broke in the first game of the season!

 

Again, I agree CC played well, but you're not going to convince me that if they played again they would be within 3-4 Tds. I'm sorry to say it, but it's true. So to look at one game and try to compare really doesn't do much for the big pic and my point.

 

At the end of the day, I said they are mediocre compared to the rest of the state. I assume you disagree?

 

IMO, the safety gave them 9 instead of only 7 due to the KO from the 20 giving Highlands great field position to start the next drive. Highlands scoring rather than turning it over would have been better for CC considering the result of a safety. If CC had 0 turnovers and 0 penalties I would allow that Highlands just played bad, but CC had turnovers and multiple penalties as well. Highlands didn't play a flawless game and neither did CC.

 

Unfortunately, you can only go off of the 1 game that was played this year. You can believe it would be a 3 or 4 TD game the second time around and maybe it would, but without a disastrous 1st quarter it could go the other was as well.

 

As for mediocrity in the state, I think Male, Manual, Trinity, Scott Co. and X would be an extremely tough out for any team in NKY 6A this year. I also believe these teams would be a tough out for Highlands and CovCath as well. Heck, the Trinity/Highlands scrimmage was 40-0. Outside of the those top 5 6A teams, I think a SK, Campbell and Dixie would be able to compete with and/or beat every other 6A team in the state. So to answer your question, mediocre compared to those 5 teams? Sure. Mediocre compared to the rest of the state? Not a chance.

Well then you saw all the penalties on the offensive line (that was their first varsity start and haven't had them since) and all the overthrows of the WIDE OPEN receivers that also has not happened since.

 

I'm not trying to take anything away from them. But using your logic and one game, I assume you feel Cov Cath will blow HHS out beacause they destroyed 6a Dixie and that HHS is only 2td's better than NCC. Because 6a camp co only beat a struggling 2a team by ten. So if you use the one game logic, NCC is also within striking distance, right? Which in turn means SK would blow HHS out of the stadium. Now I know how UKFan thinks!

Okay...we can debate what you saw and I saw in that one game all day.

 

At the end of the day...Where do you place Camp Co in 6a and overall in the state. Then where do you place HHS on the same grading scale?

Mediocre/Avg to a little above Avg

Above avg/top ten in the state.

 

Too early in the season to tell. I would say the next 3 weeks will be telling to see where both stand.
