Rumor: Shawn Hager Out as Sheldon Clark Football Coach

Featured Replies

Heard he head butted the Superintendent. Not sure how hard or if true, just what I heard.

Any news on this? if so, the super had to swallow some pride to allow the coach back.

I have no idea other than this. I have known Shawn for a long long time. He is passionate and loyal, but not what I'd call a hothead. He is smart enough, IMO, to know better than to do that.

Not to mention he would have to stand on a bucket to do it. :jump:

Don't know anything about the situation, but glad the coach got vindicated. However, I can't imagine wanting the job back after that treatment. I understand wanting to do it for the kids, and I applaud him going back. I'm sure there are more than a few people that wouldn't have.

I get your point but it was also his teaching job as well. Kinda had no choice but to go back, at least for the rest of this year. Whether he stays in the future, time will tell.

True, and I hadn't considered that. Unless there is change made at the top, I'd have a hard time staying.

Are teaching jobs so scarce that people don't feel like they could leave a place like this? I get the whole coaching thing but I'd think he could get a job elsewhere, even if he had to back to being a coordinator for a few years.

Why stick around if it's that bad in that school district?

Leaving your contract early is a violation and suspensions your teaching certificate for 2 years I think (some of you BGP teachers correct me is it 1 or 2 years now) which would mean he couldn't get a job anywhere in teaching or administration had he left. Now him being fired mid year, not sure I think those all go up to the state review board.

I got a feeling we will see more craw-dadin' out of martin county powers that be on this issue before it is said and done.

Is the Sup state appointed or was he hired by the BOE? Is he local?

I don't know if it's been stated here, but Coach Hager has been re-instated to both, his teaching and coaching positions after a meeting with the school Superintendent.

Yet it is done all the time, especially by coaches.
